Aschburner's Idea of Allstar Team

As I have read this topic this is somewhat a damn idea but for some reason I like it. When the term "Allstar Game" it basically means (to me) that the team's star players are playing but the fans and the coaches seems to do a lot of mistakes in picking an allstar team (eg: Deron Williams, Al Jefferson, the fans vote for T-mac..etc) with all those mistakes and snubs the "Allstar Game" seems to be incomplete. This is just my opinion feel free to add your opinions.

I think it wouldn't be fair to teams with more then one star player like Boston, Phoenix etc.

And there are some interesting picks on his list. Like Captain Jack over Gerald Wallace and Big Ben from the Pistons. Although he has been the most consistent player for the Pistons.

I think the current system works all right, apart from T-Mac almost starting.

What a joke. Guys like Pau Gasol and four of Boston's starters are snubbed so that guys like Jamison and Ben Wallace make it. There really isn't anything wrong with the current system, and this makes it even worse. I'm not even going to get into his ridiculous picks.

Second. The current system has its problems but the results usually aren't too bad when it's all said and done. I'd estimate that 18-20 of the 24 players selected in any given year are "deserving" of being there according to some mish-mash of common criteria that we could throw out there and that's not a bad percentage. I don't think Aschburner's proposed changes would be an improvement on the current system and if we're going to replace a system that isn't perfect but works for the most part, we'd want the new one to be better.

It's laughable how he tried to justify cons. It'll never happen. Even if it does, it'll just make All Star less interesting.

Not necessarily, I tend to think that it will open up the all-star game to fans of team's that never have all-stars. But a lack of star power would hurt in the long run.

This is how they do it in MLB and it seems to work pretty well there, although there are way more roster spots in baseball then basketball.
