I know the main purpose for going up like that is to create separation and buy themselves some space but I just dont like it when players go up with their knee high on purpose like that. In my humble opinion, it looks like a not so clean way of trying to get space. When you go up like that someone will definitely get hit if there's contact. It's just not that clean in my opinion.

Then do tell a cleaner way of creating space/separation, Modi. Use the elbows in midair instead? How about charging the shoulders or the ass like Shaq does except this time it's in midair. Or how about not creating any space at all since creating space is impractical when you're a 6-5 player going up against a 6-10 forward/center who's about to block the beejesus out of your shot. Cleaner way, anyone?

As for staring, it's not unsporting or anything but Pierce didn't just stare at Bosh. The look Pierce had on his face while staring is not very sportsman-like in my opinion. He had this arrogant, dont mess with me look on his face (0:20) which is something I personally hate. Intimidating your opponent is one thing but what Pierce did was another.

If you took down a 6-10 Raptor, you'd feel arrogant too.

it's the NBA, it's tough, and I might be thinking too much. ;) It's definitely justifiable as all he did might simply be trying to get separation.
HE'S USING HYPNOSIS!
