That second report is taken from
this article which came before the report Martti posted, so it might have been true at the time but perhaps Wojnarowski's report is now accurate.

Odom is in fact a moron if he signs with Miami when one factors in Miami's vs. LA's chances of going deep in the postseason [virtually nonexistent to tremendous] and that in itself should be a priceless incentive to sign with Los Angeles again.
IMO Odom could play the role of a Manu Ginobili, someone who comes off the bench but still plays significant minutes in the lineup as the sixth-man contributor. In crunch time, though, it would be absolutely exciting to see a lineup like this all on the floor in a big game:
C: Andrew Bynum
PF: Pau Gasol
SF: Lamar Odom
SG: Ron Artest
PG: Kobe Bryant

As Phil Jackson likes to use Bynum "in stretches", I think it would look like this :
C - Pau
F - Odom
F - Artest
G - Bryant
G - Fisher.
If they do start Bynum, then Odom will be coming off the bench.
That's why I think Miami would be better for him. He would get a guaranteed start at SF.
C - Jermaine
F - Haslem or Beasley.
F - Odom
G - Wade
G - Chalmers

It depends which way you look at it. The Lakers GM is a moron for letting him go.
Time will tell. But I'm not betting against a Lamar Odom/Dwayne Wade combo going deep into the playoffs.

it's not the Mitch Kupchak's problem, Owner Jerry Buss was the one who took the offer off the table in the first place

That said, I still think the Lakers won't do too badly if Odom does leave for Miami or somewhere else. He came through for them last year but they still have Kobe, Gasol, Bynum, Fisher and now Artest. They could be in worse shape after losing one of their key players, assuming of course that they do end up losing him.

SourceAndande and Stein say he's returning. I saw this coming. I didn't think he was going to Miami.

yes i'm glad. i was starting to get worried with all the talk of him going back to MIA. glad we getting him back.

So the Lakers gain Artest and Odom and drop Ariza? Hell of an offseason. Absolutely unfair how some teams get it all, while other teams like my Nets are thinking "Should we draft John Wall, Cole Aldrich, or Ed Davis?"

I hate Odom now.

No matter what Lakers will do ,Spurs will pwn them.

What for?!? The Heat don't deserve him as they gave him (& Butler) away in the Shaq deal.

The Heat are my favorite team, and the Lakers are my least favorite team. Odom was my favorite Laker and I really hoped he'd sign with the Heat.. That's why

Odom was my 2nd favourite Heat player behind Wade & slightly ahead of Butler. Shame they gave him away as that would've been a nice team. Heat have Beasley anyways & he will be taking next step this season, so they'll be alright mid-level playoff team in East.
Fri Jul 31, 2009 10:02 pm
The Heat will be a mid-level playoff team in the East because DWade alone is better than 2/3 of the starting lineups in the Eastern Conference.

I highly doubt that.

I didn't see any emoticon in your post that suggests sacasm so I'll take it that you're joking.

Spurs won't defeat Lakers but will have a higher seed than last season, that's for sure...
