That was my thought too but then his age and potential seem to be main attractions here. Besides, other than Blake Griffin, I don't think there is a sure deal in this year's draft.

Pecherov isn't Russian, he's Ukrainian.

In your face Diddy! You're from Russia and you don't know that? In your face again!

oh, shut up! all you wise men, tell me why and "Ukrainian" has Russian surname? every surname ended with "ov" - is Russian, i mean, even if he's from Ukr, which i totally don't give a s***, cuz he's a piece of trash anyday, as Yaroslav Korolev too, if the guy has Russia surname, than he has Russian father=he Russian immigrant!

Easy there, they're just ribbing you.

As far as Pecherov's nationality though, I think his birthplace and listed nationality speaks for itself though he obviously has Russian ancestry. That alone doesn't make him Russian any more than my surname and heritage makes me Irish, but then he might have dual citizenship so who knows. In any event it's nothing to get worked up over, least of all in a thread about a player who's neither Ukrainian nor Russian (but certainly European), so let's all keep cool heads guys.

I pray Phoenix getting the 2nd, 3rd spot in the draft and picking Rubio

That would be awesome.

What if the Clippers get the top pick?

I still think you don't pass up on Griffin....if you want Rubio, trade no. 1 pick for no. 2 pick & something that helps your team....

I must admit, I wouldn't be against seeing that happen, as would be nice for Rubio to learn behind Nash....

If Chicago got the 1st pick with just 1% of chances...

Why not the Suns getting at least the 3rd pick

I dont think the Suns is likely to get a top 5 pick. Their record compared to other low seeded team is actually much higher, and their chances of winning a high draft pick is lower too.

Yeah no shit man. But the Bulls weren't likely to get the first pick either, this is why it's called a lottery

[...] cuz he's a piece of trash anyday

Hey, he ended up being on an NBA roster. If that's the definition of a piece of trash, I'd like to be one.

I know, but still, the Clippers...not to play into the stereotype or rehash old jokes but with their history of blowing high draft picks on questionable selections, you wonder if they'd pass up either of the consensus top two picks and make a selection that's completely out of left field.

in fact a lot of guys who plays on the streets can ball better than some guys coming in the second round of NBA, they just don't have an opportunity to enter the draft, and, well, i want to be that piece too :)

sorry man, i'm cool!

i think Rubio isn't ready for NBA that much, and i'm sure with 100% that he won't be as dominant as in Europe, cuz NBA's pgs are much stronger and agressive, he will need a lot of time to develope!

I think most scouts and gms recognise that and only because of that, he will not be picked first and looks like a lock for second. That is still pretty impressive in his own right. I'm wondering if he can play with his intensity on defense for a full NBA season, and he needs to improve his shooting.

I don't think the broken arm hurt his draft stock at all. Its not like he blew out his knees or that its looking like a recurring injury.

NBA ready or not, it seems like someone would take the risk with the second pick. He might not have a huge impact immediately but they could bring him along more slowly and thrust him into the starting role once he's ready. There's that expectation that lottery picks contribute straight away and concern if they don't (and not without reason) but it seems he'd more than a project, even if he isn't a bonafide star right away.

He'll definitely needs some time to adjust to the NBA, playing in the NBA will be a lot different for him compared to playing in Europe. Not only the styles of play are different, he'll need to adjust himself to the more intense schedule and will need to develop his skills and talent to another level if he want to succeed. Shooting for one, but he's only 19 and has a lot of room and time for improvement.
