Pretty obvious decision in the end, although I'd like to have seen Spoelstra taking it.

Should have been McMillan. Coach of the most improved team always gets the nod. (with injuries being the exception. Spoelstra didn't come close to the award and for good reason)

I'd rather have Stan Van Gundy taking it.

No wai!
He doesn't even use Howard properly. Magic has an outside-inside game where the priority is the outside game.
They should do something similar to those Olajuwon led Rockets in the mid-90's, letting The Dream do his thing inside and if the defense collapses on him he kicks out to them shooters.
With the Magic, they bomb away from the outside and depend on Howard to pick up the pieces fron the inside.

Fair choice for me, Brown turned his team from a sub-50 wins team into a team with the best record in the league. If Brown didn't get the award I'd rather have Stan Van Gundy, Rick Adelman or Nate McMillan.

Diddy, can you please list 3 reasons why Spoelstra should be named the coach of the year?

i want him to be in discussion (in fact he is amoung nba analysts), but not actually win the award, cuz he isn't best at all, he has made a lot of stupid desigions this season, but steel:
1. improve team record a lot
2. Heat came from worst team in the league to PO, 5-th seed
3. not leting great rook develop earlier, so team could have better record, so that's why spo doesn't deserves it!

is it enought? :)

Rookie coach, inherited a team that Pat Riley couldnt even coach to better than last place which he guided to a 43-39 record and 5th place in the Eastern Conference - a team which is basically Dwyane Wade, a 2nd overall pick, and a bunch of scrubs (J.O was injured or played terrible the majority of the season)..

Im not saying he should get it, nor am i saying Diddy isnt being biased saying he should lol, but its not like he had no place being considered..

Edit: Also, to be honest, i would have actually liked to see Rick Adelman take it home.

Do you even bother to read? Read this thread again.
Even the players I mentioned in my post, in this thread, is to support my opinion on why I didn't want Stan Van Gundy to be COY, which is directly on-topic.

No surprises here. I don't think it's completely undeserved, Mo Williams alone doesn't necessarily equal an additional 21 wins and when a team wins 66 games and goes 39-2 at home there's a few people - players and coaching staff alike - doing their job well. He wasn't the only coach with a claim to the honours though and it depends what you rate as more impressive, horrible to average or average to great/league leading, but I think Brown deserves some credit where credit is due. Anyway, deserving or not, I think pretty much everyone picked this one.

I'm really glad Brown won it. He's been improving the team year after year, getting them a defensive identity. Now they've also improved on offense. Btw, why should Van Gundy or Spoelstra win it? I mean, Orlando has been like every year, winning 50 wins, and he wasn't even in considiriaton. Miami won 15 games last year just because Wade was injured, any coach with Miami this year would get much more wins. Adelman, McMillan, even Popovich and Sloan also deserve it this year, but Brown deserves it the most.

Your take on Spoelstra I agree with, having a healthy Wade will improve your record a lot. But I disagree on SVG especially going with your logic that Pop and Sloan deserve it more than him since Orlando's been having 50-win seasons because the same could be said for the Spurs and Jazz.

Spoelstra should have won it for saving Joel Anthony for playoffs and still making the playoffs.

No, he shouldn't. The right thing he should have done was play Anthony more, instead Spoelstra shelved him. That's no way to cultivate greatness.

Sloan and Pop won 50 games with a lot of players injured for long stretches. Yes, Van Gundy lost Jameer during ASW, but he still had Turk, Lewis and Howard...

Brown deserves it this year. He did a great job and hopefully he leads the Cavs to the finals again.
