The rumors of a trade between the Spurs and Nets involving guard Vince Carter appeared to heat up on Friday night.
If New Jersey trades Carter, San Antonio is considered the front-runner to land the former All-Star.
The most recent proposal has the Spurs sending Roger Mason, George Hill, Fabricio Oberto and Bruce Bowen to New Jersey for Carter.
The Nets would immediately waive Oberto and Bowen to get themselves under the 15-man roster limit.
I just don't want the Spurs to lose both Mason and Hill. Mason has been one of the most clutch players in the league this year if not the best and Hill is our back-up PG. Vince Carter is a good player, one of the best dunkers the game has ever had but he is 31-32 and on the downside of his career. Although a Duncan-Parker-Ginobili-Carter, Fantastic Four does sound good to me.

Since Bowen is reported to be in this deal (although waived immediately), if I'm not mistaken it will take a month (not sure about this) until he can re-sign with the Spurs.
I would hate to see this go through, I think the Nets could get more for him.

Yeah I was tlaking about their roster before the season ends and into the playoffs.

I still don't think it's necessarily a good move for the Spurs. As I said in another thread, they've already got an effective and versatile trio of scorers in Duncan, Parker and Ginobili and Carter doesn't really fit their defensive philosophy. I also agree the Nets should be able to get a better deal for Carter. I can understand why both teams might consider rolling the dice like this but I'd pass on it. The Nets could do better and the Spurs would do better with a smaller trade to bolster their roster, in my opinion.
