Rookies: Derrick Rose, Michael Beasley, OJ Mayo, Greg Oden, Rudy Fernandez, Eric Gordon, Russell Westbrook, Marc Gasol, Brook Lopez
Sophomores: Kevin Durant, Jeff Green, Al Horford, Al Thornton, Thaddeus Young, Wilson Chandler, Rodney Stuckey, Aaron Brooks, Luis Scola
Article @ RealGMI still favour the Sophomores to win but hopefully the Rookies will at least put up a decent fight.

I think that this will be the closest that the game has been in some time. Yeah, the sophs will win it, because that's what they do. But this really is a terrific rookie class. You could almost make another team of rookies with the players that missed out: D.J. Augustin, Jason Thompson, Kevin Love, Mario Chalmers, Luc-Richard Mbah-a-Moute, Anthony Morrow to name but 6.
If there was ever going to be a year to revert to the original format...
I also think that Spencer Hawes might have found a spot on the Sophs roster, but I dont think there's anyone that you could reasonably remove from the team they have. They are a pretty small lineup and the rooks have 4 legit bigs.
Prediction: Sophs by 10. MVP: Kevin Durant.
Next year: Rookies by 80. MVP: OJ Mayo.

Scola rules! =)

I'm glad that both Brooks and Scola made it.

Rookies will win it this year if they can hold stick boy to less than 30pts....

super mario and cook should been there for sure! they deserves it!

No spot for Chalmers .. Rose, Mayo, Westbrook and Gordon all are better, so it's no reason to argue about it, he had no serious chance of making it.

Hoorah for Wilson!!! I smell some highlight reel dunks!
Fri Jan 30, 2009 6:21 am
Mbah Moute deserved it more than Marc Gasol
That's for sure

Gasol's averaging 11 and 7 though, he's having a pretty decent rookie campaign himself.

You're right on that one. You know too bad.... I was going to make a sarcastic remark about leaving out Joakim Noah.

Feel free. You'll get no arguments from me. The man has been complete tripe this year.
Fri Jan 30, 2009 3:17 pm
Spencer Hawes' progress on the other hand has been quite promising.

Derrick Rose is going to save John Paxson's job. So many crappy draft days until last year's one.
Fri Jan 30, 2009 4:22 pm
That may not be such a good thing. If he's still got a job, it could mean more questionable moves in the near future. Still, I liked that he stepped up and publically accepted blame for not putting together a better roster.

Rose will own the event and the rookies will win. It's quite interesting that only 4 sophomores are the same who were on the rookie team last year.
Only thing though : Love > Gasol.

This year is looking like the year that the Rookies might actually beat the sophomores... We'll see.
Sat Jan 31, 2009 9:13 am
I don't know if there's a single thing the rookies do worse .. They're faster, stronger, they shoot it quite like the sophs and defense. Rose, Mayo, Rudy, Westbrook and Oden can all throw it down, lots of shot blockers, passers, etc, that's going to be a terrific game.

Joakim Noah deserves to be on there. Just to win the Rookie-Sophomore Challenge MVP, NBA All Star MVP, and season MVP. Wait... That's on my cousin LIVE & 2K game on his career mode on rookie.
