Paul Pierce opts out

Sun Jun 28, 2015 4:37 am

USA TODAY wrote:Veteran forward Paul Pierce will not exercise the final year of his contract with the Washington Wizards, and he will become a free agent, a person with direct knowledge of Pierce's decision told USA TODAY Sports.

The Players Tribune, a site founded by Derek Jeter who shares the same agency as Pierce, also reported the news in a tweet.

This guy was drafted in 1998, he played 15 YEARS, yes 15, for Celtics. And now in 2 years he will probably change 3 clubs.

I hate to see that happen, it happened with Patrick Ewing in NY u truly believe that great players like that who play there whole career there should be allowed to retire with that club

I agree with you. Same thing is happening in soccer, lots of players go to Qatar, UAE or USA to finish careers, because clubs don't want to pay them... Shame. :(

While I'd like to see a retirement tour with the Celtics, it seems he's headed to the Clippers. He'd be a good addition; they don't need him to be the franchise guy, but he's a capable veteran who can still contribute.

Wish he stays in Washington. They clearly need him there.

Pierce probably felt Wizard's limitation as a team. It's probably good time to move on and join CP3 for the better chance. His role will still remain high with the team.

If Pierce does leave the Wizards they wont have much room to bring in a key replacement money wise if they want to resign big Kevin Seraphin

In think Otto Porter and the rookie Kelly will have to do with Webster being the 3rd string if Bulter doesnt come back.
