2015 Basketball Hall of Fame Finalists

Mon Feb 16, 2015 11:34 pm

They are as follows:

  • Leta Andrews
  • Dick Bavetta
  • John Calipari
  • Bill Fitch
  • Tim Hardaway
  • Spencer Haywood
  • Robert Hughes
  • Kevin Johnson
  • Lisa Leslie
  • Dikembe Mutombo
  • Bo Ryan
  • Jo Jo White

Solid group. Given the usual restrictions on the number of inductions per year, I expect a couple of people who should probably go in first ballot are going to miss out.

You know you're stupid when you only know 2 people in that list.
Mutombo and Hardaway

It depends when you started watching basketball, and how much you've gotten into the history of the game.

Does Tim Hardaway really deserve to be in that list?

I don't find his career to have contributed any significance to the game of basketball aside from self-proclaimed originator of the crossover dribble.

Five-time All-Star, close to a 20 point, 10 assist player for much of his prime, arguably a top ten player at his position during that span. I suppose first ballot is debatable, but I think he's got a legitimate case to be inducted at some point.

Haywood should be a lock.

Dumb question but is Gary Payton a hall of famer?

I think Gary is a hall of famer. Can you think of a better PG in his days? I think he was second to none. How many PGs done that? CP3 is a HOF in my book for the same reason.

imo and based on per game, Gary Payton became THE PG after Stockton and before Kidd in the period between late 90s and early 2000, even in the late 90s he was only 2nd to John Stockton.

By raw stats, being 4th in career steals (Stockton, Kidd, Jordun) and having 20,000+ career points can be considered good HoF material.

Oh, I guess I was asking if he had already been inducted already. It got me thinking when Tim Hardaway's name was brought up.
