Kings trade Jason Terry to Rockets

Houston Rockets General Manager Daryl Morey announced today that the team has acquired Jason Terry from the Sacramento Kings. In addition to the veteran guard, the Rockets will acquire Sacramento’s 2015 2nd round pick if it falls between 31 and 49, and New York’s 2016 unprotected 2nd round pick. In exchange, the Rockets will send forward Alonzo Gee and guard Scotty Hopson to the Kings.

Terry wanted buy out but instead he's getting traded to a contender and is expected to provide veteran leadership with limited role on the floor. The Kings will likely waive both Gee and Hopson.

Good for Terry, possibly good for the Rockets if he's got enough left in the tank to have an impact off the bench. I wouldn't call them favourites to come out of the West or anything, but if nothing else they're a lot closer to being a contender than the Kings are, so one assumes Terry will be happier in that situation.

Real question actually was whether they did well in loss of Asik Parsons and Lin. Obvious core is Howard and Harden but you still want capable players especially in the West.

I think they've done well within available resource they had. Parsons is the biggest contributor lost from last year. Lin and Asik were average producers at best for semi successful Rockets, so... I think it's mostly loss of Parsons that will be a huge question.

Gee and Hopson have been traded from Cleveland, to Charlotte (kind of), to New Orleans, to Houston, to Sacramento in this offseason alone. Interesting.

Good move. That 2nd round pick might just be vaulable next year. Morey had proven that 2nd rounders can be great contributors.

In his recent incident, Dwight again was under siege during this offseason.

He's probably not the guy whom the league or media can like.


Harden as well. It almost seems they are the team that everyone hates now that the Heat are kinda freed from scrutiny.
