Bulls deal Teague to Nets for Shengelia (Taylor to Pelicans)

The Brooklyn Nets have agreed in principle on a pair of minor trades, a league source confirmed.

The Nets will send forward Tornike Shengelia to the Chicago Bulls for guard Marquis Teague. They will also deal guard Tyshawn Taylor and cash to the New Orleans Pelicans for a future draft pick.

I'm a little surprised the Bulls ended up trading Teague, even if it's far from being a significant deal. I figured they'd ultimately just release him.

The Bulls had already picked up his option for next year.

To put it another way, I figured they'd have to just bite the bullet and release him.
