Dwight to L.A. official

Fri Aug 10, 2012 12:50 pm

Lots of buzz at the moment that the Dwightmare is finally over. :o

AlexKennedy: Source close to four-team talks said that reports have the teams right, but a completed deal would likely include some different players.

@ESPNSteinLine: Source close to talks tells ESPN that trade call with league office has been scheduled for Friday morning to process four-team Dwight deal

@WojYahooNBA: Orlando's Jason Richardson has been significant name in 4-way talks too, sources tell Y! There's a scenario where he goes with Howard to LA.

@ESPNSteinLine: Other names bound to emerge. Example: Just heard Harkless to Magic. But deal being submitted for league approval Friday is indeed Pau-less

ESPN source says Dwight definitely NOT doing extension with Lakers. Will test drive Lakerland for season and go to free agency in July 2013

A four-team trade that would send Dwight Howard to the Los Angeles Lakers is complete, multiple sources told ESPN on Thursday night.

A source with direct knowledge of the talks told ESPN.com's Marc Stein the Lakers will receive Howard, the Denver Nuggets will acquire Andre Iguodala, the 76ers will receive Andrew Bynum and Jason Richardson, and the Magic will get Arron Afflalo, Al Harrington, Nikola Vucevic and one protected future first-round pick from each of the other three teams.
In addition, the Magic will be getting other pieces, including 76ers No. 1 draft pick Moe Harkless, a source told Stein.

Sources close to the process told Stein and ESPNLosAngeles.com's Ramona Shelburne that a trade call with the league office has been scheduled for Friday to secure the necessary NBA approval to make the deal official.

I keep telling myself that the Orlando Magic management can't get any worse and they keep proving me wrong.

Sounds like it's all but official, just awaiting league approval.

Not a fantastic deal for the Magic, but not surprising given that Howard has ensured they have very little leverage. At least they're getting some picks, expiring contracts and a couple of solid pieces in return.

Gasol stays.

Amazing. Just amazing

When this goes real, the Magics may surpass cavaliers and becoming one of the most "challenging franchise". I don't even know where could they start to rebuild from anymore. :(

Just happy that this Dwightmare is coming to an end for now. I hope he resigns next year with the Lakers.

I'm pretty sure we've seen Hennigan's last move already.

Those are the two main words.

On NBA TV, i was watching Championship Clinchers and saw this news, but it said Pau Gasol was going to the Nuggets...So I'm guessing NBA TV is inaccurate.

That was the first report, Gasol being traded. As long as the league hasn't approved this yet the details of the trade could still change.

Lakers must have mystical hypnotic powers or something. They always pull something that brings them back into contention.

Great deal for Philly and Nuggets too though. Philly got rid of somebody who is in a position of surplus with the sixers, and addressed their biggest weakness - frontcourt. Be interesting to see what kind of stats Bynum gets in Philly.
Meanwhile the Nuggets improve their team while saving millions in future cap, which is pretty genius.

And finally, the Lakers now have one of the best starting 5's i've ever seen (on paper). In terms of purely basketball perspective, they have everything covered...
PG- elite playmaker, shooter
SG- elite scorer, shooter, defender
SF- elite hustler, defender
PF- elite finesse big man, inside scorer
C- elite rebounder, defender, finisher.

Uhmazing.

Lakers the favourite?

Clips are still deeper.

and don't forget this is still pending league approval lol

The Lakers will send All-Star center Andrew Bynum to the Philadelphia 76ers, who also will receive shooting guard Jason Richardson from the Orlando Magic. The Sixers will send guard Andre Iguodala to the Denver Nuggets. The Magic will receive Arron Afflalo, Al Harrington, Nikola Vucevic, rookie swingman Moe Harkless, three first-round draft picks and a 2013 second-round pick from the Nuggets (by way of Golden State). In addition to Howard, the Lakers will also receive Earl Clark and Chris Duhon from the Magic.

Lakers win big in this scenario.

yeah, at first Bynum for Dwight was meh imo but getting Earl Clark & Duhon will help bolster their bench

I think "the upside" they're heading to is taking top 5 draft pick in the next few years, along with picks from other team and draft a whole bunch of KDurant, DRose,... together with many steals like BLopez,... when other team just draft bust like Milicic, Thabeet,... then they could have a cheap all-star team and win it all

I hope Kobe still gets his 36% usage. And the Heat still should be fine.

Well, somehow their humanity rise and make them can't approve the Magics making anymore stupid magic tricks for the sake of Orlando citizens

Well Heat now get another 4 free wins beside Charlotte so I think their winning rate may sky-rocket

It's weird Orlando didn't manage to get back Bynum or Gasol, or even Iggy for that matter.

I'm loving this LA team though, hopefully Nash has enough left in him to run this team properly, that's a whole lot of talent out there.

Lakers fans keep forgetting that Mike Brown is still the assistant coach.

Yep. And more importantly, the Heat are in the conference where the Pacers are second best team. Well... at least according to Granger, whom I hope will turn out to be right.

I think KObe will hog the ball as he likes to do. This lessens the impact of Nash. Metta is not much of a factor anymore. At least Dwight can rebound Kobe bricks lol.
