Raps Sign Rick Brunson & George Williams

Fri Aug 15, 2003 1:42 am

oh my!! how can GG even think of doing this? I was hoping that the raps will get a better free agent or anthony peeler, but this was the most stupid thing that GG have by far done!

No, you are stupid if you think that much of these signings. Brunson will be the third string PG, and Williams is likely only a camp invitee. There's still a possibility of the Raptors adding one or two players, most likely a backup SG or SF. Peeler and the Raptors still have mutual interest, but appearantly Peeler is asking for too much money.

I know i wouldn't post.. but couldn't resist

Yes I know,, signing a 12th or a 13th player never makes a lot of difference in a team and my opinion is instead of signing these kind of players GG can free up some space and a bit of salary to try and get a proven player or by trading somebody,,

but look, now the raps have a total of 19 players who are still under contract next season!! I think that there can only be 15 players in a team, 12 - active, 3 - on the injured list!! isnt that so?? :?

That's correct, but most camp invitees do not have guaranteed contracts, so the Raptors can cut their payroll as they cut players during training camp.

a small signing by Raps..i like the signing Brunson cuz it gives them experience at the pg...but i don't think Geroge Williams is gonna make the cut no offense to him..but on the second thought anyone could make the Raps roster cuz the team's player gets injured easily...

that's incredible to see Rick Brunson, with so small stats (except in his second season I believe, where he scored a thrilling average of 5 ppg), getting every year a contract. There are so many other role players that are wandering around, especially guards...

Brunson may be a good practice player? Plus, he is cheap and isnt a concern for team chemistry i dont think, and he is used to being a 3rd string pg. Thats probably why he keeps on getting that position. Its not like he will cause problems (you watch now he will probably get arrested for choking his coach ala Latrell sprewell in 97)
