Rockets acquire David Andersen

I'm surprised that no one has posted this yet given the amount of Aussies here. He's going to sign with the Rockets for 2.5 for 3 years with a team option. Can anyone educate me about his game?

It could be a really good opportunity for him with Yao out indefinitely, though I'm not expecting him to match Yao's production. I certainly hope he does well, as I do all Aussies in the NBA.

I've heard this a couple of days before the news flew around the internet, courtesy of bbs.clutchfans.net. ;)

At first I'm not satisfy with this move at all, hugely because I had no idea who the guy is. Then I began doing research on him and apparently almost everyone on that site were delighted with the move. Some said he has the potential to be the second Luis Scola, a steal.

We'll see how he does then, but this is the trade for a center that Morey was talking about. In Daryl Morey we trust.

Rockets should have made this trade instead. (Well, they still can.)

How much are they paying you?

Aussies always do well in the NBA while they are there, but they don't stay long. Shane THE HAMMER Heal hit 5 threes in a quarter but then after that was DNP. Ansty looked convincing when he was there knocking down jumpers and getting elbowed by SHAQ, Bradtke was good too he rebounding dominantly for Philly....

 moving on..

Andersen reminds me a bit of Scola-lite, I think he'll be decent but might take a year to get used to the pace of the NBA game. I remember in the 2004 Olympics saying at the NLSC that I felt alot better about Australias chances when Andersen was on the court as opposed to Bogut. Defensively he was very good, he can hit the mid-range J as well... just a "smart" player.

In addition to being skillful, Scola is a tough banger, I'd be surprised if Andersen is as physically aggressive as Scola. According to information it sounds like Andersen is more of a finesse center with passing and perimeter shooting like Anstey.

Nothing really. ;) I just wanted to point out that the site includes all the latest news about the Rockets. As a Rockets fan, it's normal for me to have a crush on that site.

Andersen will fit in well with Rockets. He's performed in Russia, Spain, on the Olympic stage. He's got a good midrange jumper that should be his money shot when teams lay off him. I think Scola is better, but as a backup PF/C, you can do a helluva lot worse. Give Andersen 25 minutes per game & you'll get your money's worth.

Rockets' fans should be aware that he is leaving money on the table from the best team in Spain to come to NBA.

As Jae alluded to, it might take him some time to adjust. I think by February, he'll start to find his groove. The only thing I worry about is his lack of strength. Last time I saw him live 2 years back, he posted up Pero Cameron & Pero pushed him all the way from low post to 3pt line  But that's Pero for you :P

Nice addition to Rockets. Last time I saw him playing was when he still played for CSKA. He has a nice shooting touch, but he seems too light to play C in the NBA. Maybe a backup to Landry, that would be more appropriate, given his lack of strength.

That adds to the relief then. I thought we were wasting our money for nothing. :P

Almost all of the teams he played with got a championship ring so i hope he does well with the Rockets ..

That is if he can replace the scores that yao always give them every game

I'm sure I read that he gets 2 million Euros per season at Barcelona. With exchange rate & fact clubs in Europe can pay taxes & give perks, without doing the sums, it's gotta at least be like getting a $4 million US per season in the NBA....but as Andersen said, it's not about the money, he just wants to play in NBA....Rockets is a good situation....he's good pick & pop player....a solid pickup for half of MLE, that's for sure....

He's nothing like Chris Anstey.

I hope he does well. The Rockets don't have Mutombo and are also likely without Yao, so he could get some minutes with his international experience. :)

They're definitely without Yao. If he chooses to undergo surgery, which he likely will, he's likely done for the season.

Looks like a good pickup for the rockets, in times of despair without no yao, t-mac or artest. :boohoo: :boohoo: :boohoo: :boohoo:

Andersen did pretty well in his first preseason outing. :)

11 points in like 12 minutes or something like that.

He looks like he's got good shooting touch. I haven't seen a lot of him, but I'm impressed so far. He'll be a good fill-in for Yao

I wish Bogut had his mid-range game. He's got a hell of a quick release for a big man.
