NBA Draft Lottery Live Blog

Wed May 20, 2009 10:30 am

What's up guys? I'll be keeping a live blog on the NBA Draft Lottery, so you'll be able to get the results right when they happen. I did this last year in a thread on the NBA Draft, so I'll be doing it again, only this time it's in it's own thread. ;)

PROJECTED DRAFT LOTTERY ORDER | RECORD | CHANCES OUT OF 1000

14. Phoenix Suns | 46-36 | 5 (0.5%)
13. Indiana Pacers | 36-46 | 6 (0.6%)
12. Charlotte Bobcats | 35-47 | 7 (0.6%)
11. New Jersey Nets | 34-48 | 9 (0.9%)
10. Milwaukee Bucks | 34-48 | 10 (1.0%)
9. Toronto Raptors | 33-49 | 17 (1.7%)

This is even stupider than the "predict the lottery" thread.

Here's the results for picks 14-4!

14. Phoenix Suns
13. Indiana Pacers
12. Charlotte Bobcats
11. New Jersey Nets
10. Milwaukee Bucks
9. Toronto Raptors
8. New York Knicks
7. Golden State Warriors
6. Minnesota Timberwolves
5. Washington Wizards
4. Sacramento Kings

Wow, Sacramento and Washington slipped out of the top three! Los Angeles, Memphis and Oklahoma City will round out the top three picks of the 2009 NBA Draft Lottery!

You've gotta be kidding me. Sacramento fell to number 4. Grizzlies, Clips, and Thunder have a chance at the top 3 picks.

Wow. Clips got the number one pick.

Aiight, here's the top three picks!

3. Oklahoma City Thunder
2. Memhpis Grizzlies
1. Los Angeles Clippers

Damn, the third time LA won the draft lottery.

EDIT: Lol benji, I don't really care. I had to find some way to kill some time. ;)

Ah crap. Blake Griffin is probably in tears right now. The Clippers will find some way to screw him up. Their first priority has to be to trade Zach Randolph for.... anything, really. He would screw this kid up royally.

So, I assume the Grizzlies take Rubio or trade down. They don't need Thabeet or Harden. Jordan Hill could potentially work, but it won't be enough. They needed Griffin.

And then the Thunder probably takes Thabeet, who would fit in well, providing the kind of defence that would kick start the fast break. I wanted the Thunder to win this.

I would like to take the time to apologize to Blake Griffin and his family on behalf of the Clippers franchise.

Shit, I wouldn't mind playing in L.A.

Griffin at least has a great market and a million ways to make mad money.

So I guess that Ricky Rubio goes to Memphis with fellow countrymen Gasol, Conley on the trade block

Conley to Phoenix?

Amar'e to Memphis trade rumors can live up again :!:

Let's not sum this up too quick. Maybe he fits in well with Baron Davis and Steve Novak. Who knows.

But the Clips has so many bigs, Camby, Kaman... He'll just get benched when he goes to LAC.

No he won't. He's better than anything they have now. The Clippers won't bench him in favour of the others.

What am i saying? It's the Clippers. Of course they will.

Re: NBA Draft Lottery Live Blog

They won't be able to keep Camby happy, he wasn't happy there in the first place.

If the Clips do choose Griffin, will Baron Davis, Eric Gordon, and Al Thornton defer to him?

Re: NBA Draft Lottery Live Blog

Griffin and Gordon would be a great core that could be prety good in a few years. Alas, it is the Clippers, and Baron, Camby and Z-Bo will rule the team. Waste of a #1 pick.

Surely, surely the Clippers will go with Griffin and not Olowokandi the pick but you never know.

Clippers already said in more or less words that they are going to pick Griffin.

Clippers Assistant Manager Neil Olshey wrote:“After spending a lot of time and effort preparing for the possibility that we didn’t get the No. 1 pick, this now allows us a lot of clarity to take Blake Griffin. It puts us at ease for the next six weeks.”

Blake Griffin wrote: “They’ve got a lot of good players on that team. I’m hoping I can come in and learn from the older guys, help them out and move forward.
Maybe I can fill a gap that they’ve had or been missing. I’m a versatile guy and can adapt to what they do. I can dribble a bit, pass, and working with more of a traditional center [in Kaman] will help. He’s done a great job since he’s been in the league, and hopefully we’ll work well together.”

Griffin's got a pretty good attitude.

But if he was asked to defer the ball, who would he pass it too? Baron? Camby? Randolph? Buckets? Gordon? Thornton? It's already hard to decide.

I think they even had a Clipper jacket with number 1(slot in the draft) Griffin's number. I guess it safe to say that the Clippers really want him (remembers the Celtics jersey of Duncan).

Was there a picture of that Duncan Celtic jersey?

You do wonder happens to all the NBA/conference championship and lottery apparel that's made just in case. They'd probably be pretty valuable collectibles in their own right.

Not strictly related to the NBA, but a friend of mine's mother used to work in one of the warehouses that distributes the AFL Grand Final merchandise, and she managed to souvenir an Essendon Premiership poster after the 2001 Grand Final that the Bombers lost. She gave it to my friend, who in turn gave it to me to rub in the fact that Essendon lost. So there you go. I still have it somewhere. It's probably worth something.
