The Los Angeles Clippers have identified the latest target in their recovery from the free-agent loss of Elton Brand by agreeing to terms on an offer sheet with restricted free agent Kelenna Azubuike of the Golden State Warriors.
NBA front-office sources told ESPN.com that the Clippers have extended a multiyear offer using their estimated $3 million in salary-cap space left over after completing a trade Tuesday with the Denver Nuggets to acquire center Marcus Camby as their primary Brand replacement.
Now this is the kind of deal bad teams should make.
Although this one is still quite questionable. We assume Thornton is a guaranteed starter. Either Gordon or Mobley will start. With Tim Thomas and Quinton Ross also on the bench and taking some time. Even with Thomas taking some time in the frontcourt, this seems like a logjam. No?

I'm madly in love with this man, but I'd hate to see him go to a team where he's not really needed. I say he can be a solid starter on a couple of teams.

What a waste. Clippers = fail.
Sure, Buike is a good player, but unless they deal Mobley for someone, their GM is the epitome of a dumbcunt.

good pick up by clipps again.
someone to replace mobley... off the bench or not, he should be better than mobley.

this is a great move, but not a guaranteed one.. the warriors still have 7 days to match that offer.. which I think they can match, but i don't know if they would retain him.. 9 million in 3 years, that's a great offer by the Clips.. Kelenna is a great all-around player, athletic, can shoot the outside, and can defend.. I agree with its asdf, his role with the clippers would probably be the same with the warriors.. if he would be given the opportuniy to play, he will be a solid player.. during the start of last season, when Stephen Jackson was inactive, he started for the SF spot, and he scored 20+ points in a couple of games. So I think he would be a great player if he's given the opportunity..

their GM is the epitome of a dumbcunt.

I don't know whether Elgin Baylor is an idiot, or if the owner, Donald Sterling, gives him limits that make it difficult to put together solid teams and staff to get a string of winning seasons.

Can't it be both?

Azubuike is one of those guys who might just explode at any second and become a consistent scorer.
Warriors will probably match it though. I doubt that they want to loose the guy.

I subscribe, really. This is a low risk gamble on a player who showed he could produce if given the time to do so. Cat Mobley is aging and becoming pretty erratic and Gordon is largely unproven, so I can't see why this is a bad signing. It's not like the Clippers won´t need some extra scoring and some depth on their roster... I wouldn't be surprised to see this guy taking some time from Al Thorthon, either.

I like the signing of him to an offer sheet....they needed more depth with Maggette gone....if they do get him, it makes them a little deeper with Thornton, Gordon, Mobley & Azubuike....it's not like Kelenna is going to play anymore for Golden State....

Did the Clips retain QRoss? I thought they let him go.
if gstate doesn't match, I could see him fading into obscurity on the bench like Yaroslav Korolev.
