Kenyon Martin to Minny?

Tue Jun 27, 2006 4:20 am

Star Tribune - The Timberwolves are rumored to be talking to the Denver Nuggets about a trade that would bring forward Kenyon Martin to Minnesota for Marko Jaric and somebody else, possibly Ricky Davis

LINK

I really like the sound of this trade. The Nuggets can finally fill the SG position after Lenard left. K-Mart can finally leave Denver(everyone in here hopes he does) and Nene will get his starting job back. So with this trade I see Nuggets like this

C - Camby
PF - Nene(hopefully he'll resign with Denvr and wont go to Toronto or sumthin)
SF - Anthony
SG - Davis
PG - Miller/Jaric - this one is interesting, cuz there was a rumor that Dre can end up in Boston.

So where do you think Martin will end up at the end of the offseason?

It could possibly be Minnesota...Id laugh if Isiah Thomas traded Mo Taylor (exp. contract, could release, and save much cap room) and one of their first round draft picks for Martin. "K-Mart was an All-Star once," says Thomas.

how will that work out for the wolves they'll have two of the best PF's in the leauge (well not k-mart) lol

Yes he's a better defender/rebounder, but Nene doesnt have attitude problems that Martin berings to the team.

air_edwards, Garnett can easily fit at C.

Kenyon Martin isn't worth Ricky Davis. That's all I have to say.

Tue Jun 27, 2006 4:57 am

that trade won't solve denvers 3pt shooting

Ditto. And Garnett can't easily fit at C as someone said. He went from a SF/PF to a PF/SF and now you want to put him at C? I seriously doubt he'd be all for it.

This would be a stupid trade for the Timberwolves. Ricky Davis is our 2nd best player now that Rashad McCants is out for maybe the whole year. If you make this trade we would have no perimeter scoring options and a forward who has injury and attitude problems.

I wouldn't object getting Kenyon Martin because he would be toughness to the team. You could have a frontcourt of Garnett and Martin but you have to keep Davis and the 6th pick. Perhaps a trade of Marko Jaric, Troy Hudson (who might retire) and Eddie Griffin for Kenyon Martin would be a better trade. Griffin has pretty much worn out his welcome here and Marko has been targeted by Denver for awhile now.

Wait, Rashad McCants is better than Ricky Davis? When did that happen?

Omfg I hope this doesnt happen, I know K-Mart is a piece of shit but for that? I think he's worth Ricky Davis.

Well Denver I dont think needs to worry about losing "toughness". They never had Kmart in the playoffs so it'd be adding a good perimeter guard that they need. They already have Najera, Nene, and Evans (if they resign him) at PF, and Kleiza can play there too. On top of that they also have Camby and Elson, so I think they'll be just fine in the front court.

This trade seems like a good one for Denver because they need to offload a major contract, and they need better guards. This could though, impact the development of Julius Hodge. It'd be one thing to bring in somebody like Antonio Daniels or something to help develop Hodge, but I'm not so sure Ricky Davis is the best role model and who knows how he'll work out under George Karl.

As far as Minnesota goes, this is going to really give them the Utah frontline problem. Three guys who all play the same position. I suppose you could start Griffin, Martin, and Garnett all at the same time, and that'd be a pretty good front line considering that all three are pretty good defenders, and the league is getting smaller....

Minnesota needs a drastic, drastic change and Denver needs to offload Martin, for a guard.

It started happening at the beginning of January.

Anthony, the Nuggets are thinking about buying out Kenyon Martin. Martin does not have that high of value right now. I think the Timberwolves would be extremely stupid to deal Jaric and Davis for Martin. That would be a huge mistake.

Tue Jun 27, 2006 9:21 am

I havent heard anything about buying him out. He isnt worth much right now, but a player that used to be palying very well is worth some player(Jaric and Davis are perfect, the salaries match 10.5 to bout 11).

Tue Jun 27, 2006 2:24 pm

that will be a great trade if they can get ricky davis to fill that non-existant sg position

Tue Jun 27, 2006 2:30 pm

If this trade goes through, it would be almost certain that the Wolves are looking to deal KG. Martin and Garnett can't both play PF.

I could see Garnett being willing to play an off position for him like center if it were for a winning team, but why would he be willing to compromise his position for another bad team? I just don't think he'd be as willing to do it as in years past... especially for a player with as much of an attitude problem as K-Mart.

Garnet played much of the year at PF/C with Eddie Griffin. It is no different with Kenyon Martin. Most teams are rolling with the two forward line-up these days anyways.

umm thats dumb.
kenyon martin sucks.
really bad.
hes a punk.
garnett would whoop him if he acted like that in minnesota.
and mccants is better than davis.
cuz he doesnt smoke pot.
kenyon martin should go to new york.
since there all washed up and sucky like isiah.

Do not understand why Minny would like to have another PF as they already have KG.
All they need is a good SG

I wouldn't mind Minnesota trying to get Kenyon Martin because they lack toughness in a bad way. However, they definitely need to keep their 6th pick in the draft. If they did add Martin to the mix, they could look at getting a guard instead of a swingman. I know they want Rudy Gay or Brandon Roy as it stands, but they could possibly go for Marcus Williams at PG or JJ Redick at SG. Those are iffy though, so we will have to wait and see how things go.

Hell, it would be nice if they could get Martin and have Adam Morrison slip all the way to #6. That's not happenin' though.

Well, it's not like Kenyon Martin is Mr. Ironman either.
