NLSC Greatest of All-time: # 00

Postby Mandich on Sat Jun 06, 2015 4:02 am

-After discussing this subject in another topic, this one was born.

-The NLSC will start with #00. Not really many notable players have worn #00 in the NBA. You can vote any way you want to. Using stats, using championships, using cultural and media impact, or perhaps all of the above.

-I've only managed to find 3.5 relevant players but I think everyone will agree the best players to ever wear #00 is Robert Parish.

-Mods please add the poll if you feel like it.

Nominees:

1. Kevin Duckworth (1987-88 to 1996-97)
P/36R/36A/36TS%OrtgDrtgPERWS/48
16.88.11.2.51410310812.1.069

* 2-time NBA All-star and 1988 NBAs Most Improved Player. Had a respectable career wearing #00 with the Blazers, Bullets, Bucks and Clippers.

2. O.J. Mayo (2013-14 to 2014-15)
P/36R/36A/36TS%OrtgDrtgPERWS/48
16.73.73.7.52310010912.5.045

* Because 2 players isn't enough. Mayo obviously can't be realistically considered to be teh best playing only 2 seasons with the number playing for the Bucks, but those 2 years were better than any other player wearing it.

3. Robert Parish (1976-77 to 1996-97)
P/36R/36A/36TS%OrtgDrtgPERWS/48
18.411.61.7.57111110219.2.154

The Chief. 4 time NBA Champion. 9 time All-star. Has an All-NBA 2nd and 3rd team under his belt. He was unbelievably durable and consistent. He played for the Warriors, Bobcats and the Bulls, but his biggest impact was on the Celtics where he formed possibly he greatest frontline ever with Bird and McHale. Clearly the best player ever to wear #00.

4. Benoit Benjamin (1985-86 to 1994-95)
P/36R/36A/36TS%OrtgDrtgPERWS/48
15.39.91.8.54510110514.9.073

* Benjamin had a pretty solid NBA career. Not quite good enough for a #3 picks in the 1985 Draft as Mullin, Oakely, Schrempf and Malone were all picked after him. He played for 9 different teams during his career.

Other Notable Players Shoutout

Spencer Hawes was a double-double Per/36 guy in his short tenure with the Sixers. He probably was better than Mayo but It doesn't really matter since Parish is clearly the best.

Greg Ostertag. Not sure why.

Thanks benji for the presentation idea.

Very well put together mate.

My vote hands down goes to the "Chief"... Robert Parish

Great Celtic and Bull for a bit, by far the best 00 in league history imo.

No need a poll for this... Benoit Benjamin is the better name though...

Tony Delk scored 50 points.

Eric Montross airballed back to back free throws.

Of players to play at least 10000 career minutes, Greg Ostertag is tied for fourth for shot blocking % at 7%.

Johnny Moore is one of the top assist and steal men of the 1980s.
