Looks like the Wolves try to make the best out of their situation. Those Wolves wouldn't look so shabby, but I can't see them making the playoffs in the next few years.
All the Sixers can do is hoping that Embiid will get healthy and that Bennett is some kind of a late bloomer.

The Sixers could turn out to be a decent team in a few years, but with so many young players, I think they need some solid veteran guidance on the squad to help them along. With all due respect to J-Rich, I'm not sure he's that veteran.

Minnesota will be very, very fun to watch this year whether they win 4 or 40 games

Indeed. The Wolves were smart to shop Love early. Love trade definitely makes Dwight, and CP3 trades feel obsolete. Now they get to keep Wiggins for 7 seasons. Let's see if they can make something out of him.

The Sixers only freed Thad because they're tanking and feels that they have enough pieces to develop. Bennett is secondary but Nerlens, MCW, and Embiid are certainly the players that they're looking forward to. This young core feels like something special at the moment. The Sixers fans actually can enjoy some basketball now despite what seems to be repeating tanking season because of glimpse of what's to come with this core in the future.

Sad to see Thad go, but he was likely going to leave after next season anyway. He gave us 7 good, consistent years and never gave less than 100% effort on the court. I certainly wish him all the best, wherever he may end up after next year. Not sure why Minnesota would want him over Bennett, because - while he is much better right now and will probably still be better in 5 years - he will likely walk out on them next summer as well. Young was not pleased with the rebuild in Philly, I don't see why he would be happier in Minneapolis.

The Sixers are getting Bennett and likely a pick. I'm not a fan of Bennett's, he was spectacularly terrible last year and I'm not sure how correctable that is. I know he had some injury issues, but that doesn't change the fact that over half of his FG attempts were long jumpshots, which he was converting at a sub-30% rate and he plays absolutely no defense. And then there are the weight concerns, too.

Theoretically a good fit next to either Noel or Embiid, but something tells me I shouldn't expect very much out of him and I don't believe he'll ever be as good as Thad is. We'll see if the Sixers' coaching staff can make him a decent NBA player.

In light of that, I'm guessing the Cavs will tread very lightly from here on out, and everything will go through as planned.

Fair to raise this point.

My guess was that the Wolves want to compete at mediocrity for couple years then hope for Rubio and Wiggins combo to turn out to be something worthwhile to give it a go. But I doubt they can stay afloat near mediocrity unless Wiggins quickly becomes a plus player and Rubio finally shoots above 40%. Thad probably will stay if he sees them as a decent core to build around but it was still a gamble for the Wolves to take.

Turns out it's Thad for Shved, Mbah a Moute and Miami's 2015 1st rounder instead.

So basically Thad for a late first and two guys who will likely contribute nothing. The pick is top10 protected in 2015, so it's pretty much guaranteed Philly gets it right away.

I suppose that with a bit of luck the pick could fall into the late teens. It's not crazy to think all 8 playoff teams from the West could have a better record than Miami, especially if Wade misses half the season and Deng sits out some games as well. Still a rather meh return for Young, considering that the 2015 draft is supposedly weak.

Anyway, it's now official that the Sixers will struggle mightily to win 15 games next season. Expect the lottery reform to go through any minute now.

Amidst all of these new players acquisition (Wiggins, Bennett, Young), everybody seems overlooking Gorgui Dieng...

So it looks a Thad for Bennett straight up trade(with future chance at landing a rotational player). At least the 76ers got something in return for a player who was going to walk I guess.

But I think the new 76ers are a fun team to watch though unlike last season. You guys stocked up on young talents and cleared the roster so that they could play freely without any restriction and distraction. Good veterans probably would have whined how they don't like losing and that young kids just want to prove themselves (something Thad said last season) all that while taking much minutes and possessions from young players. Now MCW, Bennett, Noel, and Embiid(when he comes back) have a lot of freedom and are to be let loose, and this is going to be fun regardless the record.

Bennett is going to Minnesota, not Philadelphia.

I still think they could use a veteran as a locker room presence. Thad might have been bitching about losing, but he was a consummate pro and was kind of a role model for the youngsters. Either the Sixers belive J-Rich can be that guy or they don't see the need for that. Even with young players who just want playing time and a chance to prove themselves, losing a lot wears on people, even when playing fun, run'n'gun basketball. Fun basketball can still be horrible basketball and that's how Philly will be, again.

Ahh my bad. I thought it was Bennett plus all junks. Yeah, if then this looks like a lopsided deal. But perhaps Thad is going to walk after the season from the Wolves so they aren't getting much either unless they end up overpaying Thad who's a perfected role player.

I agree they could possibly benefit from veteran presence though it wasn't something Thad has been offering.

It was. Sure, it's weird to call a 25-year old player "a veteran", but he already has 7 seasons under his belt, is a great guy to have in your locker room, always gives his all in every game and practice and is generally someone with all the good habits to look up to for the kids, despite not being that much older than them. In the waning moments of Philly's 2013 offseason, he was talking in the interviews about how he acknowledged that the "veteran" responsibility would now fall on his shoulders and was glad to accept it. I'm sure the young players in Minnesota will benefit from having him around, even if only for a season.

That's part of the reason I didn't want him traded, despite the likelihood of him opting out next year. There's a good chance he was more valuable to the Sixers, given their current state, than another team.

Thad would have been a nice fit next to either Embid or Noel...but oh well. Is Philly planning to start both Embid and Noel in the future? Or are they just stacking up talent for value?

Hard to tell at this point, but it's quite likely. There are serious questions about whether Noel is a center in the NBA for the long-term. He's simply too thin and even in Summer League got pushed around by opposing bigmen bigger than him. Don't know how much muscle he can realistically add to his frame without compromising his knees' well-being in the process.

Brown and the rest of Philly's coaching staff have been reportedly working on Noel's shot for the entire season - this could be another hint that they see him as a PF for the future. His jumper is still ugly as hell and wasn't really going in during SL, but his solid free throw shooting is promising, keeping in mind that he sucked royally at the line at Kentucky.

Again, tough to tell what happens when Embiid is ready, but with Thad gone and Bennett not coming, it's very likely that Noel starts the season at PF with Sims in the middle, presumably to be replaced by Embiid when he heals.
