Dallas brings back Devin Harris for three years, $9+ million

Hearing Devin Harris is on his way back to Dallas. Mavericks and Harris are closing in on three-year, $9+ million deal

Add last seasons signings (Kaman, Brand, Curry, Murphy, etc.) and holdovers (Marion, Carter, Odom) to go with this seasons so far and the Mavericks would have one heck of a 2007 team.

They're not breaking the bank on that one, so if he can stay healthy it might turn out to be a decent move. He's fallen from the form that netted him his lone All-Star appearance (I'd forgotten all about that) but he's still serviceable. Could be a reasonably solid, if unspectacular one-two punch with Calderon at point.

Means that the two rookies guards will get playing less playing time. As expected from Carlisle.

I haven't followed Devin Harris for a while now. He is certainly no playmaker, but that spot is already well covered with Calderon. If Harris still is as quick as he was with 25 then he would be a great addition as a defender on the perimetre and a slasher on offense. 3M$ is definitely okay, there are not many teams who have their PG position covered solidly with 7M$ per year (Calderon + Harris)

Devin played a role of combo guard last season. But he was hampered by injury on and off. Showed brilliance at times but inconsistent overall.

iirc I think it's close to 10.5mil per season for those two.

You are right, I missed Joses salary. Maybe he is getting a bit too much here, but it's still okay.

Yeah. I don't think Calderon's getting overpaid that much either(he is but not by far). Even then if something comes up, his contract I think is definitely movable. Imo Cuban's doing a good job despite losing on a Dwight race. He's trying to keep the flexibility in check while trying to build enough of a team to lure big name player(s) for the future. It's good that he passed on 2nd tier stars because he probably had to overpay them anyways.

He definitely knows something's gotta happen soon because Dirk's not getting younger.
