Lillard named 2013 Rookie of the Year

Damian Lillard of the Portland Trail Blazers is the recipient of the Eddie Gottlieb Trophy as the 2012-13 Kia NBA Rookie of the Year, the NBA announced Wednesday. Lillard was a unanimous selection, having totaled 605 points as he received all 121 first-place votes from a panel of sportswriters and broadcasters throughout the United States and Canada. Blake Griffin of the Los Angeles Clippers was the last unanimous selection (2010-11).

I'd say well-deserved and the right selection, though I thought that Anthony Davis might get at least a couple of first place votes.

Well for a man that swept the Rookie of the Month Awards in the same conference as Anthony Davis will definitely be the Rookie of the Year. Just hoping he will have more successful years ahead because I like the way he plays.

It's about time something gives this team positive press. It's been a rough few seasons. Props to Lillard. While Davis and Drummond will probably go on to be better players, Lillard would already be an all-star had he played in the East.

Well, that gives us a problem. I hope the Blazers injury jinx ends here as it is depressing to see a team that should be good but hammered by injuries to young and upcoming players.

At the beginning of the season, I thought Anthony Davis was a sure lock for the award. I never did hear from him again throughout the entire season... Probably has to do with the fact that he plays in New Orleans.
