well he is good player, but he must improve something,i think he must improve jumpshot, because he isnt very good shooter,if he can improve he´s jumpshot then he will be very good player.he´s strong side is D,he can block shots ,and he rebounds well.and he is fast .
whats forum people opinion?

how about all of the above ...cuz he doesn't have good jumpshot...not that much of a defensive player...small body...and i think Miles needs every one of those to make him a superstar...

All of the above, he's just like Richard Jefferson, all he can do is run and dunk, nothing else. They both need to work on everything: Their Jumpers, Their defense.

Let's hope that Darius Miles reads  this and understands that he needs A LOT OF HARD WORK! I hope that someday he will be a lot better!!

he's got the potential to do it..but he has to train harder...and as ppl said he could be a shining star like Kobe and T-Mac...but he can't rely on his potentials to come to him...he gotta make his potential come to him in other words...

What The Hell RJ has improved his shot, his body and he plays defense, none of these things Miles does.

Miles need to just...sheesh, he need to work period, on whatever it is he just needs to work it out.

All of the above.

Shooting: Not just his jumpshot, but also his free throw shooting too. At 6'9", 210, he should be shooting better than 41% from the field. He'd probably average double figures in scoring if he could shoot better than 59% from the line.

If he's not going to bulk up, he definitely needs to work on his jumpshot, otherwise his offensive game is very limited.

Body: He has to bulk up a little bit so he has the ability to play in the post. A little more strength will also prevent him from being pushed around on defense.

Rebounding & Defense: As I already mentioned, he's 6'9", 210. 5.4 rpg is not a bad average, but could probably be higher, say around 8 rpg.

His numbers for steals and blocks aren't too shabby, but he's still not among the best defenders in the league.

Mental Approach: He has to work towards becoming a better player, same as everyone else. The obvious motivation is to make him earn his place in the starting five, but that's difficult with LeBron James at point guard. If LeBron was playing at SG/SF, Davis and Wagner (or possibly Bremer) would be starting at SF/SG and PG respectively. Miles is not suited to power forward, so he'd be coming off the bench. To earn minutes and the starting job, he'd simply have to elevate his game.

I guess i'm the only one voting for mental approach  . I might as well explain why. I think if he goes out there focused and confident he can do what he wants. But i see why it's hard. Especially when your on the cavs. But if he's determined he can get 20+ a game. He just has to emerge into a leader which may take a bit longer for him. I think ricky d has started for the most part.

I think the cavs should lend him to the NBDL. Maybe by playing in the NBDL he's approach to game will change...

from the pics I've seen, he does have fairly broad shoulders right? Or atleast a frame which has the potential to develop.
He is also long, pretty long arms, good athlete and has the tools as they say, just needs to refine them.
Think back to Scottie Pippen, very talented, long skinny kid when he came out (no pun intended). Great athlete, but his jumper was also suspect, they said his shot was flimsy, his elbows were wobbly.
I dunno if Miles is a good ball handler or passer, but there is no reason why he can't develop the rest of his game. If he becomes a Scottie Pippen minus some passing and dribble ability, there's no shame in that. Half of a prime time Pip is pretty good.

pip had and developed good bball iq

darius miles, right now, is just pure physical ability with probably fairly low basketball intelligence which is why that natural ability is not translating into superstardom. smart basketball players win games, smart physically talented basketball players are stars. guys who can jump high can....... um, jump high.

There is too many guys coming into the nba that just can dunk and lack the rest of the game. DMiles, Vince was, RJ, ricky davis. Some are improving.

Yes all were just dunkers, that you have mentioned.

But now we see RJ with a better J,better D and Ricky Davis is a lot more than a dunker now. put up some pretty good assist numbers in a couple of games last year. 20/5/5 is good solid all-round numbers.

Desmond Mason has done the same, hes working on his jumpshot, but hes now 25 or 26 i think(its gone so fast). but he is still mainly just a dunker.

D-Miles needs to spend time in the Gym, and needs to build some confidence.

he needs to spend some time watching tapes too and finding flaws in his game and asking his coaches and himself how to improve every facet of it. you can't just go to the gym and improve, you have to know what you need to improve and how first.

all of the above and then some.... d-miles has to have his break out year this season or he will officially be a bust...
but out of all the things he had to work on id say his shot coz if he could hit that open 15-18 foot jumpshot and hit his free throws then he might be have decent.
