Best draft class ever?

Postby rayallen20 on Sat Jul 02, 2011 6:18 pm

People always say that the 2003 draft class was the best, a draft class that included superstars like LeBron James, Dwayne Wade, Chris Bosh, Carmelo Anthony and solid players like Kirk Hinrich, Kendrick Perkins, Chris Kaman, Josh Howard, David West, TJ Ford, Luke Ridnour, Nick Collison and Mo Williams.

But they keep forgetting about the 1996 draft class. A draft class that produced Allen Iverson, Marcus Camby, Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Stephon Marbury, Peja Stojakovic, Jermaine O'neal, Zydrunas Ilgauskas, Derek Fisher, Ben Wallace(undrafted), Ray Allen, Steve Nash and Kobe Bryant.

Other Solid draft classes include the 2002 draft class. A draft class that had Yao Ming, Amare Stoudemire, Carlos Boozer, Tayshaun Prince, Caron Butler and Nene.

The 2001 draft class that had Pau Gasol, Tyson Chandler, Jason Richardson, Zach Randolph, Gerald Wallace, Joe Johnson, Tony Parker, Richard Jefferson, Gilbert Arenas, Memo Okur, Shane Battier and Troy Murphy.

The 1998 draft class that included Paul Pierce, Vince Carter, Mike Bibby, Antawn Jamison, DIRK NOWITZKI, Rashard Lewis, Brad Miller, Rafer Alston and Al Harrington.

The 2005 draft class that had Deron Williams, Chris Paul, Andrew Bogut, Danny Granger, Raymod Felton, Charlie Vilanueva, Channing Frye, Nate Robinson, David Lee, Monta Ellis and Andrew Bynum.

The 1999 draft class that had Manu Ginobili, Lamar Odom, Shawn Marion, Jason Terry, Elton Brand, Baron Davis, Steve Francis, Richard Hamilton, Corey Magette, Ron Artest, Andrei Kirilenko and Andre Miller.

The 2004 draft class that had Dwight Howard, Emeka Okafor, Devin Harris, Ben Gordon, Luol Deng, Andre Igoudala, Jameer Nelson, Josh Smith, Delonte West, JR Smith, Kevin Martin, Al Jefferson, Anderson Varejao and Trevor Ariza.

The 1984 draft class that had Hakeem Olajuwon, Michael Jordan, John Stockton, Charles Barkley, Alvin Robertson, Kevin Willis and Rick Carlisle.

Forgive me if I forgot some other great draft class..

Well, what class is really the best?

But they keep forgetting about the 1996 draft class.

Because 2003 stomps the shit out of 1996.

Do we consider everyone who was drafted or just who made it? Because there is no chance 2001 makes a top five list if do the former.

Seriously.

Look at it.

If you offered me the first six picks of that draft or 25-30. Guess what.

Because to most people winning championships defies you as a great player...But its a all around team effort..
The 03 Class cannot fuck with the 96 Class simple as that..

And half the population is below average in intelligence.

As for your latter point, throw out Fisher and Bryant who owe either all or half their rings to someone else, same with Ray Allen, then count the rings

And/or, if you'd rather actually be rational, consider that the 1996 class has had fifteen years in the league. In other words, an entire career.

But if the 03 Class is full of All-Stars and MVP canidates every year you would think they should be loaded right?

I wasn't referring to comparison in terms of championships, I was referring to overall talent.

If they were to play against each other and considering each player was in their prime, I think 1996 would win.

Nash Wade
Iverson Anthony
Kobe James
O'Neal Bosh
Camby Kaman

84,96, & 03 were all great. I think 84 wins all, but I think 96' was better than 03'. It's a tough one to call, but just look at the names & how they're careers were & how they are.

You forgot Samaki Walker and Malik Rose.
So in 15 years the 96 class has 9, while the 03 class in only 8 years already has 5 and most of those 03 guys haven't even reached their prime yet.

The former team (Walker-Rose-Pedja-Anderson-Fisher) would vaporize the latter team off the face of the earth. They have gobs of rings, the latter team has one ring combined. Anyone who doesn't have a ring is worthless especially compared to those who won rings.

Real basketball fans know this, anyone with a ring is better than anyone without one automatically.

Learn about the game already, maybe you could try watching it to start.
