I'd have to say nba tv by far followed closely by espn. Tnt is just awful to me, because they act too silly, furthermore, when its tnt night, its usually a light night in the nba, about 3 or 4 games. Nba tv i'd say gets deep into everything, stats, interviews, injuries and more. Personally i enjoy watching nba tv more than the other channels, but personally i think tnt is the worse, mainly because its usually a light night in the nba and they're just too silly.

ESPN. I don't know who is the guy says sentences like "puts it in", "in and out" etc.

ESPN, Mike Breen and company for the win. From local broadcasters, I prefer Miami's and Chicago's (Stacey King hells yeah).

MSG network. Mike Breen + Walt Frazier.. I remember when Kenny Smith used to do like 10 games a season. But on a serious note..

I like watching games on TNT.

I'm partial to TNT as Marv Albert was the voice of the NBA while I was growing up and I like Steve Kerr's work as well; his time with the Bulls makes me a little biased towards him as well. I've warmed up to ESPN's trio of Mike Breen, Jeff Van Gundy and Mark Jackson to the point where I feel Breen is pretty close to being right up there with Marv, but I still find Van Gundy and Jackson annoying at times.

Disgusting, none of these are any good. Maybe if you want to listen to hours of stupidity while watching basketball. But why do that when you can watch a local broadcast of a team and get all the stupidity plus obsessive levels of homerism and over the top attempts to move up to the national stage where
JaoSming wrote:Tommy Heinsohn

Oh, beaten.

George Blaha is the best basketball broadcaster and this is an objective fact, he's even better than Chick Hearn. And unlike Hearn he's learned to not die. Stupid mistake on Hearn's part. The problem is that like he did for Magic's MSU teams, Greg Kelser continues to be an incompetent sidekick who nobody has any use for, the guy can't even make car commercials ironically funny. And with Bill Laimbeer and Rick Mahorn instead dominating the WNBA he was forced upon the true patriots of the American Republic for reasons nobody is clear on. What's really offensive is that Mahorn is no longer the Shock coach, but he has yet to strangle Kelser to death and take over his job. The last time Rick Mahorn was a commentator on Pistons games he was part of the Pacers-Pistons brawl. What other color guy has that credential, none of them.

That said, I know some people watched the D-League games on Versus. And Eric Musselman drunk doing a game in some podunk town he hates is the best thing ever. He's a coach now for Reno, but he was amazing as a color guy. Fourth quarter blowouts would just become him bitching about how much the town sucks and the horrible places he ate at while in town. And the announcer would try to get him back on track of the game and he'd bitch about how much the fans sucked for not helping their team back in the game before going back to bitch about the food. There was one game he was clearly eating concession food during the game and wound up bitching about it in the fourth quarter too. And there was another game where even the announcer hated whatever food they ate together somewhere and they literally spent ten minutes talking about this instead of commentating on the game. I'm pretty sure the NBA forced someone to hire him just to get him off the broadcasts.

If I was in charge of these fancy networks, I'd get some really serious blogger, like obsessive level homer who makes gigantic massive posts on RealGM elaborating on his teamwork and leadership theories and make him the announcer. And then someone who you plaster with liquor throughout the entire game, probably someone unpleasant and vulgar. That's what the SAP channel should be, not the same game in Spanish. And then you also have Bill Walton. (Feel free to give him liquor too, no one could tell the difference.)

I quite like the Sun Sports team of Eric Reid and Tony Fiorentino. As I mentioned in another thread, for a local broadcast team they're pretty fair handed.

well seems like the original question was geared towards national telecasts but a lot of us in the states have a preference for the local broadcasts. my opinion of the local broadcasts:

Atlanta- pretty decent. I like when they put Nique on there although his mic skills are a little lacking. i love the arena announcer (J-J-J-J-Joe Johnson for thrEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!)
Boston- (N) (N) (N) to Heinsohn. Gorman is okay. i hate the way the arena announcer announces the celtics names when they make shots.
Charlotte- I liked Dell Curry as a player so i like him. the other guy is okay.
Chicago- not the biggest fan though it isn't the worst. see: Boston (wasn't this guy in NBA Hangtime?)
Cleveland- jesus almost as bad as Boston. commentators put me to sleep. and the guy that's not the play by play guy bugs me. i don't like their arena announcer either. sounds like the wizard of oz or a robot
Dallas- haven't seen to much of them. they're pretty generic
Denver- don't really remmeber them too well.
Detroit- they put me to sleep just like Cleveland's broadcast. the arena announcer is the most annoying in the NBA (DEEEETROIT BASKETBALLLLL)
Golden State- the CSN broadcast is okay.
Houston- don't think Bullard or Drexler are that good, but i guess it could be worse. arena announcer is interesting. he sounds angry a lot. i liked the way he said trevor ariza and yao ming's names
Indiana- does Clark Kellogg still do their broadcasts?? he bugs the crap outta me.
Clippers- I never really liked Ralph Lawler until recently because i get to see how bad the lakers broadcast has become. being in the LA market, i have come to appreciate Lawler's BINGO!s and his stupid Lawler's Law (1st to 100 wins the game). his partner mike smith i hate. arena announcer is boring
Lakers- Joel Meyers replaced Paul Sunderland (a volleyball announcer who replaced legendary chick Hearn after his death) and pushed his way onto TV after being an unknown radio play by play man. he bugs the shit out of me. partner stu lantz has been terrible ever since chick's death. chick obviously kept him in check. now he says dumb stereotypical black phrases like "That was NOOOOOOICE!". their long-time arena announcer is cool. kind of a deep voice.
Memphis- slightly annoying with their southern accents
Miami-nothing really makes me like them, but i guess they're middle of the road quality-wise. i like their arena announcer (Dos Minutos) and the way he announces dwyane wade
milwaukee- i think their broadcasters are pretty decent.
Minnesota- haven't seen them much, but pretty generic
NJ- pretty sure Marv still does their broadcasts and he's good. ian eagle is pretty decent too. doesn't the czar show up on there too? i've learned to like him
NY-Breen' seems to be next in line to replace Marv as top play by play man whenever Marv decides to give it up. Clyde Frazier seems like he doesn't know what he's talking about half the time lol. i think of him and i think of his quote from the hair club commercials... "no play for Mr. Gray!". i like the way the arena announcer says Gallinari
NO- don't really like their broadcasters but i like the WOOOOOs for Chris Paul in the arena
OKC- grant long is annoying.
Orlando- isn't matt goukas on there? i liked him on NBC. i recently saw a vintage orlando game and they still have the same arena announcer who i like when he says "jameeeeer nelson"
philly- pretty generic csn broadcast and boring too
phoenix-generic broadcast. their local channel has crappy on-screen graphics
portland- they're okay. the on-screen graphics are weird and take some getting used to.
sac- i like their on-screen graphics. announcers are better than most, but not great.
san antonio- jesus sean elliott is up there in homerism with Heinsohn. their broadcasts are filled with "timmy this" and "timmy that"
toronto- don't they have matt devlin? i like him and isn't he on TNT come playoff time?
Utah- they're okay. i liked the way the arena announcer used to say carlos boozer
washington- yet another generic & boring csn broadcast. although out of all the csns they are probably second to the warriors.

ok so they don't sound very smart, but they are entertaining sometimes.

and no axel., id say overall i like atlanta, charlotte, clippers, nj, orlando, and toronto's but maybe it's because i like those teams in general (minus nj & toronto) so their slight homerisms i let slide
