The Phoenix Suns make a pair of trades that bring back Hedo Turkoglu and Josh Childress, reports Sports 620 KTAR's John Gambadoro.

Turkoglu was traded to the Suns from the Toronto Raptors for Leandro Barbosa and Dwayne Jones.
...
Childress' acqusistion is a sign-and-trade with the Atlanta Hawks in which the Suns are using some of their trade exception that they received in their deal with the New York Knicks. His deal is five years and worth $33.5 million.

The Suns will also send their 2012 second-round pick to the Hawks.

Rumor is the Raptors will be sending Jones with the Bosh exception to acquire Boris Diaw from Charlotte.

God damn it. Already gotta change my sig. Gotta say I like the deals though. Suns get a stud swingman and get a player who should be a good fit for Barbosa, who played like shit last season. The Craptors get rid of Turk's contract. 'Nuff said.

Boris Diaw, eh...

If I were the Suns I wouldn't be so keen to take on Turkoglu's contract, but I'd agree that those are pretty good deals on both sides. Turkoglu didn't pan out in Toronto and given the reports that he wanted out anyway, getting rid of him was for the best. Perhaps he'll be happier and bounce back in Phoenix. Childress is a fine pickup for the Suns too.

It's a freaking miracle the Raptors were even able to move Hedo's huge contract. YES.

Damn it. Raptors sending away European player rather than bringing in. That's unusual, but a job well done.

Childress is definitely an improvement over Barbosa.

They need a PG because Felton is headed to the Knicks, Chandler sucked, and Larry Brown is not willing to start D.J. Augustin because of his lack of defense?

If the Bobcats actually do that, I will fucking punch them right in the face. Tyson Chandler should stay and two of the Bobcats centers should leave (*cough*ajinca included*cough*). We currently have 4 centers and 3 Power Forwards. Tyson Chandler, Tyrus Thomas, and Boris Diaw are the only good big men on the team and Diaw and Chandler would leave on this deal. Calderon would be an improvement over DJ Augustin, but losing Raymond Felton to NYK was bad. Losing the only good center and one of the two good PFs isn;t worth bringing in Calderon. This trade sucks balls.

Looks like the Raptors are the winners of both the Turkoglu/Calderon trades. It absolutely makes no sense to me that the Suns trade for Turkoglu. They still have Grant Hill and Jared Dudley, with Earl Clark as the potential starter in the future. Calderon should play well in Charlotte, they play good team defense, that might cover up Calderon's poor defensive abilities. Diaw and Barbosa are both good role players that have experience, they should get some playing time on the Raptors. Not expecting much from Barbosa/Diaw though, Raptors fans are waiting to see if DeRozan and the other young guys can blossom.

Does Calderon know how to play defense?

 well, there are plenty of point guards they can sign off the FA market without giving away their best frontcourt players in one sided deals

on a serious note, i'll still take Tyson Chandler over Nazr Mohammed anyday, and as a Bulls fan, i know how frustrating Tyrus Thomas is. One moment he shows all the potential in the world, next moment he screws up everything and looks like a damn bust
