MJ would win because of his popularity. In reality the result should end up Carter 1st, Nique 2nd & MJ 3rd.

As for Darvin Ham, YouTube him. He's a champion (Y)

I'd say Vince 1st, MJ 2nd and Nique 3rd. People love to talk about how Nique was robbed in '88, but he got some pretty generous 50s in that contest. Of course, by today's standards quite a few of those 50s in the '80s seem a little generous.

Of course, we're assuming that MJ and Nique couldn't have done any of the things that Vince did in 2000 and I'm not sure that's necessarily the case. Carter had the benefit of coming after those two and building upon what had been done in the past. Get all of them together in the same time period with the same inspiration, I think any one of them could win.

As for Darvin Ham:

That 360 dunk was nice. Reminds me of Howard sticker dunk because of Ham touching the board. Wtf is Lisa Leslie as judge?

The Atlanta Olympics were the previous year and the WNBA was launching that year, I'd say that's the reason behind it. Still better than the current system of the fans voting for the winner before the final round has even commenced.

the dunk contest is a joke. it used to have some cred but now its just a complete joke.

as for the question andrew has a good point. carter has a huge advantage over the other 2. when they did it a foul line dunk was a guarenteed 50 now its like "ok thats nice but show me something big". still said i think carter has been the most creative "probably all stolen from street ball players but whatever" player in the dunk contest so i would pick him with jordan 2nd

There have been a few really entertaining contests since (and including) 2000, but the format they've used the past couple of years takes away from the event. It's made even worse when the contestants themselves aren't putting on much of a show, as was the case this year (just in case anyone's forgotten how most of us were severely underwhelmed back in February).

i think they need judges who dunked. bring back x nba players who have either won the contest or at least was a dunker during their time in the nba. fans should have no vote. fan voting is the worst fucking thing in the world imo. i am of the opinion that whenever you open a poll to the mass public the worst choice will probably win cause people are idiots, american idol is a great example of that, or the current president

I reckon people will still find fault with the judging. Everyone seemed to get on MJ's case when he dared to not give Dwight Howard a 10 on the sticker dunk. Still, I too would much rather see "dunkers" judging and scoring every dunk in each round. And that's the stupidest part of the fan voting, the vote is open at the beginning of the final round which makes the final round redundant. Go back to basics, expand the field to six so you can invite a couple more competitors with the creativity to do something special and most important, invite players who are truly interested in competing. The contest is supposed to fun and entertaining, even if means little to the NBA season in the grand scheme of things.

I don't think the NBA will be moving away from the fan based voting anytime soon. It's their way of "getting the fans involved" and they probably make a shit load of money off of the texts.

Either way, the president was meant to be an Awardee for that pointless prize. Even Henry Kissinger's won it before anyways. Hence the result: Sauru is either a racist or a feminist.

I also like Jordan's dunks more than Nique's. Imho Wilkins was only spectacular at his time, because the windmill was not as common as it is today. I mean, how many windmill dunks do we see in-game nowadays. About Vince, he is a bit out of competition. I not only think he had the better ideas (although you could still argue that Jordan and Nique had some decent ideas at that time), he also had the best hang time. It's really funny to see how high Vince Carter could jump in his prime.
