2010 Mock Draft

Postby dare on Wed May 19, 2010 11:22 am

So the Wizards have won the lottery now we can safely have a mock draft which everyone can post their own mock draft.
Here is mine:

1.Wizards - John Wall | PG
If the Wizards want to rebuild I think they should with this guy.
2. 76ers - Evan Turner| SG/SF
I had my doubts about this one, I was leaning towards Cousins but it's too hard too pass on Turner.
3. Nets - Wesley Johnson| SF
The Nets needs an SF that can shoot, they already have Lopez so they don't need a bigmen.
4. Timberwolves - DeMarcus Cousins| PF/C
I know they already have Jefferson and Love they just have to get the best guy available, I can see this pick being trade.
5. Kings - Al-Faruoq Aminu| SF
I think this guy is Luol Deng type of player, he can improve with Westpaul coaching him.
6. Warriors - Donatas Motiejunas| PF
With their high offense basketball I think this guy can fit in. They have some international guys too.
7. Pistons - Cole Aldrich| C
They need a bigmen not named Kwame Brown.
8. Clippers - Derrick Favors| PF/SF
He can be a good back-up for Griffin
9. Jazz - Patrick Patterson| PF
If Boozer does leave he can be a good back-up for Millsap.
10. Pacers - Ed Davis| PF
He might turnout to be a nice compliment for Granger, got high hopes for this guy.
11. Hornets - Xavier Henry| SF
They needed a forward, can be a lot better when playing besides CP3
12. Grizzlies - Gordon Hayward| SF
Love this kid, I can see him being a hard nose player. All hustle
13. Raptors - Hassan Whiteside| C
If Bosh leaves Barnangni will move to PF then they absolutely need a center
14. Rockets - Greg Monroe| PF/C
Just in case Yao gets injured again.

Passing over Favors for Aldrich with the excuse of drafting for need is still somewhat insane.

What about drafting him to backup Blake Griffin?

Favors had a lot of potential but he still very raw offensively, all he can do is catch an alley-oop or force for a dunk.

Besides that is only "my own" mock draft, you can always post yours :D

I understand your logic, but bad teams like Pistons don't draft for need, they draft for talent and Favors has top five talent. Give him good, even serviceable, guards in college and he would have been more productive (like he was at the end of the year when Schumpert finally realized that giving him the ball was a good thing).

I'm actually going to try to make a legit mock this year anyways, so maybe I'll try.

1.Wizards - John Wall | PG
He's the No. 1 prospect, but I think Evan Turner's versatility and experience as a point guard this past season could prove useful next to Gilbert Arenas. Wall's probably the new man in DC though.
2. 76ers - DeMarcus Cousins| C
I know they're paying Dalembert and Brand loads of cash, but pairing Cousins with Hollinger MVP Maurice Speights would be a step in the right direction. This could easily be Turner if the Sixers think they can trade Iguodala.
3. Nets - Wesley Johnson| SF
I can see Johnson here. I don't know if they can pick Turner when they already have a young bunch of SG/SF (Lee, Williams, CDR)
4. Timberwolves - Evan Turner| SG/SF
No brainer, he'd be the steal of the draft, he fills a need, and he's not a PG. Perfection.
5. Kings - Al-Faruoq Aminu| SF
I mean, they could go Favors, but I don't know what they want to do with their current trio of Landry-Hawes-Thompson. Aminu is the better version of Donte Greene.
6. Warriors - Donatas Motiejunas| PF
I can see this. They need a big guy and Favors would can run with their system, but I'm pretty sure the idea of a Motiejunas-Curry pick and pop gives Nelly quite the stiffy (if Nelly even knows who he is).
7. Pistons - Derrick Favors| PF
Oh, look at that, Favors falls right into the Pistons' lap! But really, he'd fit well in Detroit and could learn a lot on the defensive end from Big Ben.
8. Clippers - Patrick Patterson| PF/SF
They need a SF, but there really isn't one sitting here that would be worth the reach. Patterson is a tweener who could create a solid "big" line-up with Griffin and Kaman, but he lacks the speed to play their full-time.
9. Jazz - Greg Monroe| PF
Greg Monroe is either going to be a very serviceable player in the NBA or a complete bust. I think it all depends on where he goes and what system he plays in. He's a good fit in the high-post and he can be a solid player (with upside to take Okur's job at some point) in the Jazz system.
10. Pacers - Gordon Hayward*| SF
Yearly underwhelming white-guy drafted by Larry Bird... just kidding. *Ed Davis, high potential, mucho athleticism, he should be able to step right in and get some experience.
11. Hornets - Paul George| SF
I'd say James Anderson or Xavier Henry here, but the surprising scoring of Marcus Thornton probably forces them to look at reaching for a big small forward like George. Plus, someone has to be the who/what pick in the lottery, why not Paul George?
12. Grizzlies - Xavier Henry| SF
For a team that probably loses current starter Rudy Gay, a good character guy like Henry fits. He's an improving outside shooter with athleticism, who should be fine with OJ Mayo finally taking control of the Griz.
13. Raptors - Cole Aldrich | C
Aldrich can fill the void of defender/rebounder with imminent departure of Chris Bosh. His game is down low, which opens up Bargnani to do what he needs to from 15 feet and out.
14. Rockets - Ekpe Udoh| C/PF
I think they go Yao insurance here. The question is do they go with the project in Hassan Whiteside or the more polished, but still raw, Udoh. Udoh's versatility will help him get on the court with Yao and the shot blocking duo of Yao and Udoh is just scary.

Rough draft, check.

Well, they already have Brook Lopez. So problem solved, no need to even draft anyone.

Nets have a reasonable shot at bouncing back & making playoffs next season, such is the East :P

Yes, the East is completely unpredictable. I know. I actually live there, saw some games, including going to a Bobcats game where they KILLED LeBron and the Cavaliers, and the East is unpredictable cuz of the Magic. Look at their playoffs! They sweep in the first two series and look like they might be getting swept in the Eastern Conference Finals. It's true: the East is just as unpredictable as I can be sometimes. :D

Why do the Magic cause the East to be unpredictable?
