Basketball Hall of Fame Class of 2010 Announced

Pippen, Karl Malone and two of the best U.S. Olympic teams -- including that famed 1992 Dream Team -- were selected Monday as part of the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame's class of 2010. Malone and Pippen, both eligible for election for the first time, were part of that '92 Olympic team.

Los Angeles Lakers owner Jerry Buss, high school coaching great Bob Hurley, Sr., and WNBA star Cynthia Cooper also were in the class announced at the Final Four. NBA veterans Dennis Johnson and Gus Johnson and international star Maciel "Ubiratan" Pereira will be honored posthumously.

The 1960 and 1992 U.S. Olympic teams, which both won Olympic gold medals, will be part of the induction ceremony on Aug. 13.

No surprises with Pippen and Malone. Nice to see Dennis Johnson finally get his due and both the Dream Team and 1960 Olympic squad get the nod.

Yeah i think so. For me it's all about somebody's skills. Just like the Macho Man should be in the HOF of wrestling.

Hopefully, Rodman is inducted some day but there's a backlog of deserving candidates yet to get the nod and as much as I'm a fan of The Worm, the late great DJ was longer overdue for the honour.

Yes, there is a list of candidates but to be honest there are not much players on that list who were dominating the NBA with their special skill the same way as The Worm was dominating the boards.

I'm 100% sure Macho Man will be in the HOF sooner or later. I hope before he dies because i want to hear his speech ooh yeah.

Lolz. As much of a macho's man's fan I was, it's funny how WWF star name came out in this thread in comparison of Rodman.

Karl Malone deserves to be honored despite of how much I hate him. He was probably the best natural PF ever.

I only said it since Duncan also played C, but I do agree his natural position also is PF, since his best days came from that position.

The "Is Duncan a power forward or centre?" debate is really the only stumbling block to calling him the best power forward in history. I still say he's a power forward, he's always been listed as one during the course of his NBA career, thus he can fairly claim that honour.

Nice to see Pippen and Malone get honoured. I also agree that Rodman deserves to be there as well, but I guess his antics will always get in the way of him getting recognised.

...and TD is definitely the best PF ever (IMO)
