Shaq out after thumb surgery

Report

Cleveland Cavaliers center Shaquille O’Neal had surgery on his injured right thumb Monday and seems likely to miss the rest of the regular season.

If he gets back for the playoffs, though, O’Neal is promising to make up for his time out.

O’Neal will miss about eight weeks, the team said. He was examined Sunday by specialist Dr. Thomas Graham at the National Hand Center in Baltimore, who performed the surgery Monday morning.

No doubt the Cavs are even keener for the 30 days to be up so they can re-sign Ilgauskas.

Jesus, two months for a thumb injury? That sucks. Good news for Lakers fans I guess.

Well, one can only imagine the kind of havoc it would wreak upon his shooting form. :rimshot:

People have been saying this is a bad thing, but I don't really see it hurting the Cavs during the regular season. With Ilgauskas starting last year they were the best team in the east during the regular season, so I don't think they'll be any worse off now, especially with Jamison.
