2010 All-Star Game

Postby Andrew on Mon Feb 15, 2010 1:03 pm

With all the threads about the starters and reserves, we somehow skipped a central thread on the All-Star game itself. So here goes.

First half hasn't been too bad. The score is close and hopefully will remain that way so that the game has an opportunity to get serious in the fourth quarter. There's been some nice dunks and passes, Dwight Howard hitting a three was entertaining and despite a bit of sloppiness as both teams have tried to run without being completely in sync with one another, it's been an enjoyable exhibition for me. Watching Rose pass the ball to LeBron was a definite "I can dream" moment for me; I'll enjoy it while I can.

As it stands, LeBron and Wade stand out to me as the likely MVP candidates for the East should they win while it looks like Melo or Durant will probably take home the honours if the West wins.

Pretty shit, David Lee is a joke and Chris Kaman is the most boring man alive. I guess if the score stays close the 4th might be decent, here's hoping. The half time show was horrific.

I never bother with the halftime show, what little I saw didn't encourage me to change my position on that

Meanwhile, LeBron is definitely gunning for the MVP. Those reverse dunks were crazy, especially the first which seemed to come out of nowhere off the dish from Wade. The dunk contest is being put to shame.

Some great dunks from LeBron and Dwight in the third. TNT seems allergic to replays though so we don't get to see them more than once.

They're pretty keen on squashing the action to the side for lengthy interviews though.

Nice buzzer beater by Durant to finish the third. Looks like it'll come down to LeBron and Wade for the MVP, with the gaudiest stats garnering the trophy. If LeBron goes off for 35 or so he'll probably get it but Wade's right there with him at the moment and has ten assists to boot.

Just started watching at the end of the first half. I was surprised to see Kaman in that early, let alone get a dunk.

Watch online here - http://www.tnt.tv/sports/nba/allstar10/

Halftime show sucked, something was wrong with the audio. I could barely hear Shakira/Alicia Keys sing. Probably wouldn't have made a difference if I could.

Haha, Randolph with the choke, missing the 1 foot layup.

I spoke too soon, thought the East might end up pulling away early but it's a one point game. Official attendance is 108,713; largest crowd ever for a basketball game which is pretty cool. They were aiming for 100,000 and they got it.

How do the people in the cheap seats actually see what's going on during the game? There are a 108,713 people there.

All tied up with 44 seconds left. Should be a good finish, we could be heading for an overtime.

EDIT: Deron Williams messed up there.

East lead by two with 12.7 seconds left. If they prevail, I'm guessing Wade will end up with the MVP.

Nice play by the West to tie. Who's going to get the last shot? Lebron? Wade?

Bosh tripped up, and we have a free throw shootout on our hands. Crowd doesn't like it.

I reckon it goes to Dirk or Billups for the last shot.

EDIT: Nope, Melo. Way short, East take it.
