Pierce could be out through All-Star break (or not)

The Boston Celtics remain optimistic Paul Pierce hasn’t broken his left foot, but he could be sidelined through the All-Star break, team sources told Yahoo! Sports.

Team officials called an NBA.com report that Pierce could have broken his foot in Monday’s victory over the Washington Wizards “premature” and said the All-Star forward was continuing to be evaluated by medical staff on Tuesday night. The Celtics are cautiously optimistic Pierce suffered a strain.

Seems like injuries could very well get in the way of Boston's titles hopes again this year. Meanwhile, it looks like we're set to have two replacement All-Stars this year.

Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised to see Lee get the nod.

EDIT: Scratch that. The story has been updated with the diagnosis being a midfoot sprain, Pierce could be back in action by the weekend, in which case I doubt he'll be replaced.

Great. Hope the sprain won't bother him too much for a long time. I also hope to see him skipping the all star game if it'll risk this injury to get worse.

I'd love to see an East player replaced with a West one.

Really wish Devean George hasn't vetoed the first Kidd-Harris trade (though he was doing them a favor) Would have been interesting to see how the league would've handled Kidd switching conferences.
