Knicks Making Last Push For Rubio

Postby Alpha_ on Tue Sep 01, 2009 5:08 pm

RealGM: The Knicks are again pushing to make a trade for Ricky Rubio, according to a league source that spoke with the Star Tribune.

Minnesota would like acquire restricted free agents David Lee, Nate Robinson and a future No. 1 pick in the deal, while receiving cap relief for Mark Blount and Brian Cardinal.

Three separate sources that spoke with Newsday have shot down the Star Tribune's report, at the very least the possibility of Lee being included.

so,

David Lee, Nate Robinson, and a future first round pick for Ricky Rubio, Mark Blount, and Brian Cardinal...

wow...Donnie Walsh's guts are too tough for this trade, they are gambling too much for the next offseason, hope that they will get their "reward" for all of these in next summer...anyways, i also got Rubio in my NY assoc. so i want this to happen...but excluding Lee in the package...

I'm guessing that report is outdated (or at least their final push will fail if it hasn't already), given the news that Rubio is staying in Spain.

wait Andrew, can you please help me to get a better picture of this...so Ricky Rubio signed a 4(?)or 6 year contract with the Spanish team...then they should wait two years for him to get in the NBA...so Rubio is eligible of not continuing the contract and could cut it after two yrs without a buyout, then go to Twolves?....or that contract was signed years ago?

It appears there's an out-clause in his deal that will not require a buyout, the catch being that he must remain with Regal Barcelona for the next two years before it can be exercised.

Under his agreement with the Regal Barcelona, according to the reports, is a stipulation that would allow him to leave after the 2010-11 European season without having to pay a buyout.

No idea, I must admit I don't follow European basketball. Perhaps someone else can shed some light on that.
