For discussions re: international leagues, except Australia because we don't have one :(. If the thread is active enough we may expand and have a sub-forum dedicated to it, but for now lets just try the thread.

In Argentina the league is in offseason, Atenas, the most winning team in Argentina's history won the championship after a 7 year drought. This was like 40 days ago

the coach, Ruben Magnano, is the one who led Argentina to the 2nd place at Indianapolis and the gold medal in Athens

Do we know when the new league is starting up and what it will even be called?

It will be terrible though, no Dragons or Tigers, damnit.

They should call it the A-League, maybe it'll trick a few people into attending the games for a change.

A league without Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane. It basically markets itself.

Not much reason to talk about the Dutch league either. I don't even think I could name all teams in it.

I would like to discuss the Philippine League (PBA) in this thread but I'm afraid of opening the spam floodgates.

Except for the ridiculous post-season (as in post-post-season ) fight about who is the champion of 2008/2009.

Just over a week ago (june 23rd) the Dutch Basketball Association (NBB) has appealed against the decision of its own 'Rules Committee' (don't really know the right translation) to grant EclipseJet MyGuide Amsterdam the championship, which they had ruled 10 days prior, and two weeks after game 7, which was won by Amsterdam.

The final series of the playoffs was between Amsterdam and Den Bosch, end of may. During the series came out that Amsterdam guard Orion Greene (ex-Boston Celtics) had tested positive for marihuana.

He was suspended accordingly but still played in game 3 and 4 before Amsterdam followed up on the suspension, claiming that they had not been properly/officially informed on the suspension, which was granted by the 'Rules Committee'.

By the way, I think it's pretty stupid alltogether that marihuana is considered 'doping', but whatever.. he was actually the fourth player to be suspended for that in 2008/2009.

GINEBRA! GINEBRA! I just hate San Miguel. They "stole" all of the other team's superstars.

'Valt wel mee.' Sometimes I don't even get as far as France. I've been cycling in the Ardennes often, on real vacations as well as weekends.
