Knicks interested in T-Mac?

Postby Andrew on Thu Jun 18, 2009 12:47 pm

Taken from here.

A person with knowledge of the situation said the Houston Rockets are engaging in very preliminary discussions involving offers for Tracy McGrady and, the source said, the Knicks have shown some interest. However, much like the inquiry about Shaquille O'Neal, it is believed to be strictly due diligence at this point on the part of Walsh.

Rumours and the Knicks seem to go hand-in-hand, but that wouldn't be too bad for New York. If it works out, great; that's another option for them moving forward. If not, McGrady is an expiring contract and they'd have another lottery pick and an obscene amount of cap space. As with Allen Iverson in Detroit, it would be a gamble that could pay off down the road, even if it appears to crash and burn in the short term.

This a great trade for NY, considering that they'll have more cap space for 2010
Allen Iverson passing on family values:

Mike D' Antoni came at the wrong time .
Think . . .
If Isaiah Thomas is still the Knicks Head Coach they will be the suckiest team in the NBA and eventually have the No. 1 Pick ! ( IMO , maybe a 12-70 Record )
They should've been looking to draft Blake Griffin now .

Not necessarily. The last two years, the teams with the worst record have slipped to the fourth pick having not drawn the first, second or third picks. Such is the luck of the lottery.

The Knicks have to make the playoffs next year. Zeke traded there unprotected first round pick for next year to Utah. :x :x

This trade would be good for Knicks, especially if McGrady comes back in good shape. If he doesn't they'll have cap space anyways. Although I heard that McGrady lately is training like he never has, it's still hard to tell what will be his condition after 4-5 months.

That's what I heard too, I heard T-Mac is training really hard and rahabing daily to be back in shape in time for next season. His condition is still unpredictable at this point, but hopefully he'll make full recovery and be back strong like he used to be. Leslie Alexander and Daryl Morey once said that they're not going to trade T-Mac or Yao though. Said "superstars" aren't easy to find.

Whatever, he never had any help back in Orlando anyway. He carried the Magics to the playoffs only to be eliminated in the first round and all the blame is on him. In Houston he was supposed to make a blast along with Yao Ming, but the duo never really worked out. The Rockets did have 3-4 great seasons with Yao and T-Mac together but Yao never dominate like he was expected/supposed to. On the other hand, T-Mac has always played well until the 08-09 season where he was really unhealthy. Yao and T-Mac are both injury proned but T-Mac is the only one taking the blame.

So much for arguments about T-Mac being a liar, I've seen just about enough of them anyway.

That's the spirit! Don't just put the blame on him. Put the blame on Utah!

Yeah, screw this trade! And it is from McGrady's mouth that he don't want to go out of Houston.

Utah doesn't take the blame, but the Rockets do for failing to beat them. ;)

Yeah, screw this trade! And it is from McGrady's mouth that he don't want to go out of Houston.

This doesn't depend on McGrady. He doesn't have the kind of influence that MJ and Kobe have. Players like MJ and Kobe are powerful because of their status. McGrady's presence doesn't give him enough power to influence a team decision.

If Leslie and Daryl decides to trade T-Mac, he wouldn't be able to do anything about it but say goodbye to his teammates. However, T-Mac's fans can feel a little bit relieved because Leslie and Daryl have said earlier that they're not looking to deal T-Mac elsewhere. To add to the relief, they said it after T-Mac have had the microfracture surgery, so it means that the surgery wont change their mind.

Well, that's it! I still want to have Houston their version of the Big 3. The Yao-Ron-Tracy tandem smells good!

It does smell good, too bad the "big 3" only played a few games together last season. A big portion of those games where they actually played together was with T-Mac or Artest unhealthy as well.

In absense of T-Mac, the team proved to be better last year. Regardless of playing through injury, he hasn't done it for the team in the past anyways. The team can actually benefit from his absense as there is going to be more balls for everyone else. Well... That's what I think at the moment assuming that T-Mac just isn't a same player anymore.
