(1) Lakers VS (5) Rockets - 2ND ROUND SERIES

Postby NovU on Sat May 02, 2009 7:50 am

I am so excited for the Rockets. It's going to be an uphill battle against LAL, but I think they do have somewhat of chance since they have Artest and Battier in stoppers.

LA in 6, all Houston wanted to do was pass the first round
Allen Iverson passing on family values:

A.I.: son, what you doing there?
A.I.'s son: practicing my math for my test tommorow
A.I: practice? practice? we talkin' 'bout practice. not the test - practice. we talkin' 'bout practice. not the test, not the test - practice.

Lakers in six. I went back and forth between five and six but I'll stick with the Rockets taking a couple of games from them.

Rockets in 6. Rick Adelman had learned from his 4 losses from the Lakers. He will say to Battier and Artest to tighten their defense more on Kobe. It's going to be more physical with Ron Ron and Mamba this time in the playoffs.

I will go with Fakers, because they are the so-called "best" today along with the Kabaliers. Fakers will win, in 6. And a Mavs/Fakers matchup in WCF (Y) (hoping)

I don't think calling the Lakers and the Cavaliers the "best" is just purported. Their standings will prove that. They're not just so-called.

Am I the only one who thinks it is kind of funny, that Houston passes the 1st round, and yet McGrady isn't playing? :D That guy should wear a paper bag.

I just knew someone's going to tell me that....can't a fan be honest now about his player? Dude is douche-bag, was crying in an interview last year like he was holding the team together....

It's pretty unfortunate for him, but then one could easily say Yao isn't capable of leading a team past the first round and it took Artest's arrival and the aquisition/emergence of a couple of other players for them to take the next step. T-Mac was a shell of his former self this season and the plague of injuries have hampered his career and reputation in recent years but I think he gets too much of the blame. It's more fashionable (for lack of a better word) to focus on him never being on a team that's gotten out of the first round than look at the bigger picture and share the responsibility. That's not to defend everything he's done or said, but again I do think he cops too much of the blame.

Tracy McGrady sort of fazed into a backseat as a leader after fail after fail. I don't blame him, but I think he really couldn't step up as a leader, or a primary ball handler, scorer, defender to a level where he can take them to a 2nd round. It wasn't totally his fault, but he was more of AI type of player than Billups type for the HOU, well maybe little bit in him at least. Sure Tracy McGrady had all the talents, but he never took that step like Kobe, and never got to a stage where he made players around him better. I think that's where the blame comes from.

But consider it also took a few acquisitions by the Lakers for a Kobe-led, Shaqless Lakers team to get out of the first round and reminiscent of T-Mac's Orlando team that blew a 3-1 lead in the first round in 2003, the Lakers fell to the Suns a couple of years back after taking the same commanding lead in their series. Unfortunate circumstances with health have certainly held him back, I believe he could have been a much more dominant player if not for all his nagging injuries.

the reason why the rockets now find themselves in the second round is not because of artest or yao or for any other players in their team. they battled a surprised young portland team that does not know how to handle that kind of pressure or atmosphere and they take advantage of that situation.

It's not like the Rockets are a team that's seasoned by several deep playoff runs either though.
