Haddadi to D-League

Postby Clueminati017 on Wed Nov 26, 2008 3:20 pm

Grizzlies center Hamed Haddadi will depart today for the Bismarck, North Dakota while his teammates head to Salt Lake City.

Haddadi, the league's first Iranian player, is going to the NBA Developmental League.

"We want him to play and get some time," Griz coach Marc Iavaroni said. "We're not practicing enough for him to develop."

The 7-footer didn't appear in any of the Grizzlies' 14 games, including a Monday night contest with the San Antonio Spurs. Haddadi's mostly spent time on the inactive list.

He will report to the Dakota Wizards on an early-morning flight with Griz advanced scout Gordon Chiesa, who was an assistant coach under Iavaroni last season. Chiesa is credited for convincing the Griz to sign Haddadi after watching his performances at the Rocky Mountain Revue summer league in Utah.

Just to think about this. This is a good move for them to do, and I had high hopes for this guy too. When you see that he's the only player on the Iranian team putting up double figures.

Definitely seems like the best thing to do. After going the trouble of getting clearance to bring him in, it's a waste for him to just sit on the bench when he could be being groomed for the NBA game in the D-League.

I don't get why the Grizzlies haven't played him yet. I mean they're 100% lottery bound and nobody can convince me that they're seriously looking at their record. So why not give everyone a chance to play and see how they do?

As I said some time before... He won't play much more than 10, 15 minutes a game this season... He's movement was so big and now he ends in the D-League

The next Saer Sene

I'm sure many people had high hopes on Walter Herrmann too, but some said he'll be the next Whoever H. N. Is.

Myself, I think he'll be a decent rotation player after a few years of experience and development. Never seen him play myself, but his statline from the Olympics sure looked awesome. He's god a nice frame, too.

BTW - you've also drown by the fact that Haddadi is undrafted, was never expected as a future superman or something, while Sene was picked.. how was it .. 7th ? I'm not saying there's a possibility that Hayday D will be a scrub, but I think he'll be decent for what he was expected to do.

Haddadi can run the court. I can not vouch about that because he's like a big man fundamentalist not compared to how Wilt Chamberlain was back in the Harlem Globetrotters where he'll run point. Although, I feel that this is a good move for him, and I wish that either Darko or Kwame went to the D-League instead of being a career cancer for every team just to be opened up for cap space.

It might have helped but I think attitude has been part of the problem with them. The impression I've gotten of Darko when he complains about being mistreated or not being given a chance and ranting about raping his opponent's mothers is that he expects to be handed everything on a silver plate and still has a lot of growing up to do, while it seems that Kwame wants to be coddled and shrinks in the presence of anything that isn't glowing praise. Perhaps I'm way off base and making assumptions based on noteworthy negative incidents but it just seems to me that their mentality is a big part of the problem. Maybe some time in the D-League would have rid them of those attitudes but it's possible they would have still held them back all the same.

I think Darko was actually talking about the referees' mothers.

Probably, that would actually make more sense. It doesn't really change the nature of what he said though.
