The actual espn article doesnt work for me so i just read what was on hoopshype.com. But Ben Gordon is being quoted as saying: "I think its safe to say I've played my last game in a Bulls uniform." He aslo says that taking the bulls qualifying offer is not an option so its either europe or a sign and trade. I'm just not sure many teams are willing to pay him what he believes he is worth.

Do you have any stats to back that up? Because it sure doesn't look like they're better as they're struggling to score while Gordon is on the bench because Deng's being tentative and Hinrich's making extremely questionable decisions for a starting point guard in the NBA.

If I were the Bulls, and a conditional second rounder was offered for Gordon, I would accept in a heartbeat.

And I'd be calling for your immediate resignation. A conditional second rounder? Come on, that's a Krause move at best.

How is he overrated? Everyone writes him off as a useless, one dimensional player. To be at all overrated, people would actually have to be saying all kinds of positive things about him, which they don't. Deng on the other hand is overrated, everyone seems to believe he's a superstar waiting to happen but I don't see that. I'd like to see that happen, he's a fine player and I'm glad the Bulls still have him but he doesn't strike me as a player who's any more likely to lead the Bulls than Gordon or anyone else on their roster.

Anyhow, I'm disappointed that it's come to this, I'd hoped they'd be able to come to some sort of agreement but if Gordon's not willing to budge on the dollars the Bulls' hands are tied. Of course, if they hadn't gone out and blown all that money on an unmotivated Ben Wallace they wouldn't have had to take on another bad contract to get rid of him and wouldn't be looking at the luxury tax right now.

Point differential is 10 points better without him on the floor. They are better off with other SG options (Hughes and Sefolosha I would presume) than him. Unlike the Childress argument, Ben Gordon also shoots 43% from the field (50% using benjistats, but unless you are Ben Wallace, eFG% only helps) and has a negative assist/turnover rate.

At this point, a conditional second rounder would be a good deal for Gordon. You lose a team cancer, and in return, get cap space and a little bonus.

gordon didn't really live up to expectations of chicago fans in 07-08. and it seems like ppl already think there's not much more room for improvement for gordon. at the same time, he's 25 years old, so he must be looking for big dollars from a long term contract.

Well, that is surprising because they certainly don't look like they play much better without him on the floor but the stats are what they are. Team cancer seems a bit harsh considering he doesn't feud with his teammates or anything like that. I don't understand not trying to get more for him if he's on his way out either.

Besides, it's not a feasible option if he's not going to sign for the qualifying offer and no one is willing to pay him what he's asking for. They'd have to get someone in return, they're not going to get the cap relief so why not try for the best possible deal? It might not be great, but it would be more than a second rounder.

eFG isn't a benjistat, it's a useful and old stat. (Devised originally by Rick Barry.) FG% is irrelevant because all shots are not equal in value. Ben Gordon takes a lot of three pointers, so while he may make less of them, he may actually score more points than a higher FG% shooter who only takes twos. Thus, why eFG% is superior.

Him and Deng were both overrated by the media and wanted to be grossly overpaid before last season. But I can't see how the Bulls would be better without him. Ben Gordon was a good player, then he fell off. . .I guess people got sick of the whining and ego trips from him. For him to be asking for a whole lot of money, he should slap himself in the face. Maybe over rated was an the wrong word, but I guess sometimes over rated players get all the money. . Cough Rashard Lewis. He's going to Europe cause there's no team in the NBA that can afford to offer him a huge contract, cause 1 he is not worth that contract and 2, you don't pay that much for a jump shooter. If he went to the basket more, then I'd think about it.

Deng on the other hand, I don't know much about him, but when he's on the floor, I think he's an impact player, more so than Gordon, cause he doesn't just settle for jumpers. But yeah Chicago, is back to square one. Maybe they should have drafted better than Noah, and get a REAL ow post threat. IMO, if they did that, Teams would be begging for Ben Gordon to play for them. So what, one off year and that's it? Also, what whining and ego trips would you be referring to? All through Skiles' weird rotations and playing his pets when they could have used Gordon's scoring, he didn't whine or demand a trade. He put in the work in the offseason and came to play. Last offseason he turned down and extension and now he's asking for a lot of money, more than he's worth most would say and it's difficult to argue against that but he's not badmouthing the team or the city or anything like that. As far as whining and ego trips are concerned, Gordon's actions are pretty low on the scale.

I'm not a huge Gordon fan, but if they were going to trade him, they may as well get fair or close to fair value back for him....otherwise he can sign qualifying offer & he might make a decent trading chip next season....if he doesn't like that plan, he can sign in Europe for a year & Bulls can keep his restricted free agency rights....

at the very least, Ben Gordon is still one of the best 6th men in the league....I think harnessed in the right situation, he's a very good scorer off the bench....

I think the Bulls overpaid Deng, & when they did, they raised Gordon's own expectations on what he should get paid, as he no doubt rates himself an equal (or better) player than Deng....I like Deng more, but not $20 million more....

the Gordon situation seems like another situation where restricted free agency has it's issues....but until they come up with better scenario, it's here to stay....

in the end, I would've like to have seen the Bulls select Michael Beasley, fill a scoring void in the frontcourt & not add to the logjam in the backcourt....I really am interested to see how this one pans out....from my perspective, he should've taken the deal last summer....

Supposedly taking the qualifying offer isn't an option, so at least the Bulls retain his rights should he decide to go to Europe or another NBA team bites the bullet and takes a chance on signing him to an offer sheet for the kind of money he wants, giving Chicago a shot at keeping him.

I dont think you really need special stats like eFG% to back up that Hughes is not better than Gordon ^^.

Hughes is maybe one of the worst decisionmakers out there and is firing shots that he just cannot hit. His defense has also been overrated for that one or two seasons were he led the league in thefts.

I don't know why sum people complain that ben is a undersized SG, I just hate that really you don't see people talking about Jason Terry, Rashad McCants,Dwyane Wade, Eric Gordon, and Cuttino Mobley as defensive liabilities
on Defence. I am not a fan but I think he can become a Dwyane Wade if he can drive more and take less shots plus if he can improve his dribbling and passing he can become a PG. He has a lot of talent. And even if he took too many shots, people start complaining and blah blah blah....You don't see people talking about Kobe or Ray Allen. I believe that the Bulls should trade Hinirich for a Center, to get that log jam broken, and give the PG Position all to Rose.

and he had hops (no wonder his jumpshots are great). Until he went to college where he just became a jump shooter. Search on Youtube about ben's old playing days back in highschool. If can drive like this and be explosive with his jumpshots, he will be quickly getting people's attention. He should improve his D by being more aggresive and just play good D by getting steals, blocks, and interceptions. Then nobody will be complaining and he will be great player for years to come. hope this will show you why he should come back.

Well, Wade is a fantastic defensive player and Mobley was battletested from years of being left to guard people on his own in Houston. Gordon combines being undersized with being a crappy defensive player.

lmao, i too found this point to be completly off. saying if a player changes his entire game, improves on everything he does, he could be as good as someone else. this arguement could be used for anyone in the league.
