Nenad Krstic signs deal with Russian team

Nenad Krstic won't be wearing a Nets uniform next season, or the uniform of any another NBA team, either.

The restricted free agent, who spent the first four seasons of his career with the Nets, signed a two-year deal that could be worth $10 million with a team in Moscow Monday night.

Krstic becomes the second former Net to leave for Russia in recent days. Unrestricted free agent Bostjan Nachbar signed with Dynamo Moscow last week. Krstic's team is called Triumph.

Can't be.. Krstic is a very solid player, I really started to like him. I hope he does well there, though.

I'm not too sure the state of the economy actually affects NBA players though, not like regular folks like us...

It's too bad the Nets lost a solid starting big man in Krstic especially since he was having a really good season before injuring his ACl in 2007. I don't know what to think of this move. The team he signed for isn't a Euroleague team which means it is probably in the middle tier of European teams. To choose to sign for such a team instead of sticking around in the NBA; I don't know whether that's a good or bad thing.

Maybe now teams will realize that they overpay their highest payed players?

However, it's not going to be the end of the world. This is just a sign of the game growing. The guys who will move to Europe are those who aren't stars so it's not going to change the face of the NBA.

I was just being silly, but to answer your question... it affects them directly.

The dollar is gradually weakening against the Euro. This makes the Euro worth more and more than the dollar day after day. This allows European teams to make contracts that are both lucrative and finally affordable to the team itself.

All in all, there's guaranteed money in Europe.

They also don't have to pay taxes in Europe as the teams pay them, and there's been an influx of Russian money into the market.

I'm happy that I can leave anytime.
