The magic have won game one thanx to some surprisingly shitty crunch time play by Billups. Final score 99-94. The dunk that T-Mac threw down on Mehemt Okur was amazing. Benji Wallace blew a wide open dunk. Knee buggin ya big fella? Anywho, Drew Gooden was the x-factor as I predicted, scoring 18 and grabbing 14 outplaying Benji Wallace by a long shot.

Yeah sounds like an impresive game by Mcgrady. But just remember, its just one game, and they have to win 3 more.
If Orlando loses, how long will it be before Tmac gets Garnett like questions "Good player, but never been out of the first round"

One game out of seven, but a good way for Orlando to start. If they get the jump on Detroit early in the series, they might be able to pull off the upset, though it will be harder to accomplish than it would be if it were a five game series as in previous years.

While it would be nice if the Magic could pull off the upset (I doubt T-Mac will stick around much longer with everything that keeps going wrong in Orlando), I think the Pistons will win it in 5 or 6 (I think I predicted 5).

Well, the Magic have gone up 2-1, after an 89-80 victory. The Pistons aren't in danger since it's no longer a 5 game series in the first round, but if the Magic go up 3-1, I like their chances.

(I jinxed the Pistons with my last post, so I guess I've just jinxed the Magic with this one. :wink:

The Magic won Game 4 100-92, and are now up 3-1. Ben Wallace has been Ben Wallace throughout, including Game 4 (12 points, 24 rebounds, 7 steals and a block), but the Magic seem to keep finding an answer. I think we're headed for the first real upset in this year's playoffs.

I don't think it would be an upset if the Magic win.

I mean, Orlando has the best player on the series, McGrady, and he is arguably amongst the top 3 or 5 players in the NBA today too.

Wallace is outstading for Detroit but he's not a scorer. It's no use if he keeps getting 20 rebounds per game and defending like hell if the team can't score (see Billups shooting % this series).

True. But Detroit did reach 50 wins and is the top seed in the East, while the Magic were in and out of the playoff picture during the second half of the season.

But you're right, the Pistons' experiment with a team without a proven star as their main offensive weapon seems to be faltering in the playoffs. I would still consider an Orlando victory an upset though, simply because of their regular season performance and seeding.

Well I hope the Magic can finish them off now. I said ages ago that the Pistons had no go to man, and that they wouldn't go anywhere. I thought I might have been wrong late in the season when Chauncey Billups had some nice clutch moments, but I guess the playoff picture is different. I knew a team with a go to guy would make Detriot's back court look like bitches, and their own lack of "go to guy" would be exposed. Feel bad for one Detroit fan: Matt, but that's about it. Go Orlando! I'm gonna look like an ass if the Pistons claw their way back (always a possiblity with playoff ball), but I'm willing to take that risk with a chance to say "I told you so!"

The Magic is just killing the Pistons, totally. They suppose to be the best defensive team but they cannot stop McGrady and company.

anyways, i don't think that Magic beating the Pistons would be an upset, since these teams always have close games and since Magic have upgraded their lineup after the teams last meeting. Although, it would be an upset if Magic win 4-1 or 4-2 because that way it would prove Magic superiority. Wallace is havin a great series, 9.3ppg 18.8rpg 2.5bpg and 3spg and he just had a pretty big injury so that shows ya how much this guy wants to win but not everyone is on his level.

Kinda tough on RIP cos of his first post season appearance
as much as i like Michael Curry as a player, i think it's time for him to at least play less. He sets the defensive tone but we cant have him playing 25 mins.........T-Mac is unstopable, i believe the only player that can slow the guy down on the team is => Prince........He's got an inch on T-Mac so that T-Mac can't shoot over him, and he's got a 7'2 wingspan

Oh well, i guess the draft pick will be the teams life line for next year, but this time next year there are no excuses........anything short of ECF will be a disappointment.............in all honesty i believe that Magic are the only team capable of stopping Pistons in the East.....i thought if matched up against any other teams Pistons would prevail.................series is not over yet

It would be wise for the Pistons, if they get a high pick, to go with someone who is ready to contribute, preferably at a position which needs filling. But if not, maybe a trade upgrade. Recently somebody suggested the Bulls should trade for Shane Battier at the three because he provides good defence, can contribute on offence (shoots well from the field) and doesn't complain about shots, etc. He might be a good fit. But for now, go Orlando :wink:

Pistons win Game 5 98-67. McGrady only had 19 and the rest of the Magic didn't contribute much at the offensive end either. Rip came back after a poor offensive performance in Game 4, and Wallace was Wallace. Orlando might be looking at Game 7 if they don't get back into form.

Prince plays 33 mins and helps to hold T-Mac to 8-20FG, he also added 15pts and 6 reb.........15pts is a number that Curry hasn't seen since like this time last year when he scored 16 vs Celts in Game 1, Prince clearly is an offensive option unlike Curry + he plays D

T-Mac was on, but the rest of the Magic were not. Not easy to win when the Pistons play like they did, but Orlando have only needed to win Game 5 to advance. Now they'll have to play a Game 7 in Detroit. If only the first round was still only a 5 game series... :wink:
