Interesting Fact/Article

SI's Ian Thomson wrote an article the other day about how the Warriors upset was good for the NBA as it busted the playoffs wide open. He mentioned something that I found quite interesting:

Ever since Magic Johnson and Larry Bird revolutionized pro basketball in 1979-80, a cabal of eight stars -- Magic, Bird, Moses Malone, Isiah Thomas, Michael Jordan, Hakeem Olajuwon, Shaquille O'Neal and Tim Duncan -- have claimed 26 of the 27 championships.

It really makes you appreciate what the Pistons did in 2004, becoming the only team in the last quarter of a century to win the title without having a super-star player.

add Wade to that list because it was more of his contributions than shaq's that won it.

If we add Wade, then we should add like 60 other players.

Damn right

I think Shaq was metioned mostly becasue of his 3 rings and not becasue he was the best player in his team (although without him, Kobe and Wade wouldn't have been champs...)

Replace Zeke with Joe Dumars and count the Pistons championship too, as he put together that team.

Shaq may not have been as powerful an on-court presence for the Miami win, but guys like Payton & Antoine Walker would not have accepted roles as subs for anybody else.
