Atlantic Division: win/win situation.

Postby Doobie on Wed Jan 10, 2007 3:30 pm

Well, every team in the Atlantic division has a win, win scenario. Making the playoffs or ending up with a high lottery pick. The Knicks won't end up wth a high pick, but Isiah might get fired. So, the question for this thread is.... Would you rather have your team win the division, or lose and get a high lottery pick?

New York can still make the playoffs, they have the same amount of wins as the Raptors and Nets, they just played more games

Get a pick and draft a good PF. They need one badly.

Make the playoffs (with the worst record of all the teams making the playoffs) and KEEP the top-15 protected pick that Toronto owes for this upcoming draft, and draft a good swingman.

Well for the Knicks it's a no brainer...go for as many wins as possible since the Bulls will take their 1st round pick.

Definitely. It worries me that Toronto could lose that top-15 pick to Charlotte in a deep draft class.

Meh...Tyrus Thomas isn't exactly saving a space on his cabinet for his ROY trophy. If you have to give up a pick, that was a good year to do it. The Bulls are playing Malik Allen more than him, if that gives you any indication. I guess he'll be a good player in the future...that doesn't help with a playoff run now though (i always wanted & thought we were getting Roy).

The value of the trade will ride more on this year's pick, since most consider it a strong draft. But right now, it looks like New York got the better end of the deal so far.

True and I'm not convinced by the 'strength' of this year's draft yet. If Oden stays and 2-3 of the top underclassmen do too, the upcoming draft might be weaker than 2006's.

I don't see any of these teams make it past the first round so in my eyes almost every draft pick possible is better than a playoff appearance...
