Will LeBron sweep the Hawks again? (2016 edition)

Postby Lamrock on Fri Apr 29, 2016 12:30 pm

LeBron is 8-0 vs Atlanta in postseason play. Will this continue? Personally I think the Hawks take one in ATL before being grounded in 5

Hawks in SIX.

Cavs are not that good this year and Hawks are solid in & out. There is great chance here for the Hawks team.

I hope the chippiness carries over from the Celtic series. Maybe it will keep ATL from their tendency of forgetting how to score for the ball for long stretches

I predict cavs advance in 5 games

I could see the Cavs sweeping, but I'll say the Hawks steal a game, and take Cleveland in five.

My original thought was Cavs in 5, but this is a formidable Hawks team. Cavs in 6 it is.

Rooting for Atlanta (in 7) because Cleveland really isn't fun to watch for me. Not really interested in seeing them advance

Hawks came back from an 18 point deficit, but Cavs ran away with it late. Big block by Kyrie down the stretch, fun to see a point guard get up and turn back a shot like that.

Meanwhile, LeBron has passed Michael Jordan in career Playoff wins. Similar winning percentage, too: LeBron's won 120 of 183 career Playoff games, while MJ won 119/179.

The Cavs are murdering the Hawks at the moment. JR Smith is scorching from downtown.

The Hawks need an elite "go-to" type of star player to advance passed the second round.

Or just not face the Cavs. Whichever is easier.

Why do the Cavs succeed so much against the Hawks? I know the obvious reasons, but fuck, they're up 36 at the half; Pistons gave them a better run for their money.

41 now... Christ.

But really this is the greatest shooting performance I've ever seen.
Not only by Jr but the whole team in general.

Whoever's handling the Hawks' Twitter account had a good call.

If you take away their 3's we're right in this...

And then they went and ruined it with Crying Jordan Memes. Ah well, hats off for that one, at least.

Records being broken
2 Eastern conference game 7s
Buzzer beater to force OT
Players getting physical in the playoffs
2-3 absolute powerhouse all-time teams with entertaining and dominating performances

I don't care to convince anyone that this season is better or worse than I feel it is, but the playoffs so far have been far from "sorry ass".
Opinions are my own.

We already and always knew answer to that question anyways. Definitely not the 'best' season ever, but neither the 'shittiest'.

Best is yet to come tho. Conference Finals! Spurs vs Warriors series possibly will be worthy to talk about for generations to come.

Yeah, I'll say definitely not the worst, nor certainly the best, at least in my book. I'll also say that I thought the 2014 Playoffs were great, capping off an overall fine season, lest I come off like a fan tragically stuck in the 90s. 2011 and 2013 still stick out in my mind as well.

It's just the way it goes sometimes, and one person's criteria won't necessarily match anyone else's. I know some fans who really enjoyed the lockout years because the shorter seasons seemingly made a larger chunk of the season more meaningful. I can appreciate that too, though the disjointed offseason resulted in some sloppy basketball and other unfortunate circumstances in both cases.
