Wizards make offer to Scott Brooks

Sources: Wizards offer head-coaching job to Scott Brooks

Washington Wizards general manager Ernie Grunfeld met with Scott Brooks on Wednesday in Southern California, offering him the franchise’s head-coaching job, league sources told The Vertical.

Brooks has been enthusiastic about reaching an agreement with the Wizards and could complete negotiations on a contract that will pay him in the range of $7 million a season, league sources told The Vertical.

Brooks was fired after the 2015 season in Oklahoma City, where he went 338-207 in seven seasons as coach of the Thunder. He led the Thunder to the 2012 NBA Finals.

Also, looks like the Rockets are pursuing Jeff Van Gundy.

Jeff Van Gundy has been the Houston Rockets’ No. 1 choice, but he is unwilling to talk to the organization while a coach – in this instance, J.B. Bickerstaff – is in place, sources said. Houston and Van Gundy are expected to engage once the Rockets are eliminated from the playoffs and see if there is a chance for them to partner for a second time, league sources said.

I feel like Van Gundy, like Jon Gruden, has too cushy a job and get paid a shit ton to do it. It's gonna take an opportunity of a lifetime to get them out of the commentator's chair.

I'd be sorry to lose him from NBA on ESPN broadcasts. On the bright side, there's apparently interest around the league in Mark Jackson.

Jeff Van Gundy to the Rockets is a terrible move if it happens.
Despite his regular season record he's a terrible coach come playoff time.
99 was a fluke.
HE'S USING HYPNOSIS!

My Bullets are really gearing up for the KD sweepstakes. I'm not too optimistic about KD coming to DC but crazier things have happened. Like I never thought MJ would ever play for the Wizards. BTW, not sure if I've mentioned this but I was at MJ's 50 point game Wiz against the Hornets. One of my best sports events I've ever been a part of and I've been to many.

As tough as it was to see MJ in the Wizards' uniform, I did get some enjoyment out of his bigger performances at the time.

Brooks signing is now official.
