i have 1 dell, 1.4 gig processer, 384 MB RAM, Nvidia Ge force 64 video, running xp. i can't seem to get my favorite game, live 2000, to work properly. after an install, i try to start the game, the blue screen with bird, etc. comes on, the sdreen goes, black and this message comes up:
NBA Live Exception Handler
Unhandles exception 0x0000005 occured at address 0x6000c328
Stack Trace Unavailable
What does this mean and how can i fix it? i've tried loading the updated rosters but get the same message. if i change the compatability to win98 nbawin.ini won't work.
help,

As far as I know:
Live 2000 can not be played on XP!

you're wrong. i can play nba live 2000 under XP without any problem, and so most of the Live 2000 players do.
I know that some encountered problems, but we never could tell why.
Does the game work in software mode (instead of 3D renderer ?). If yes, the problem may come from your video card.

XP is great for NBA Live 2000...
Sounds like a video card problem (and it settings)...

Stratjim:
You might want to uninstall the game completely. If possible after uninstalling that one get to the EA folder and delete the original db folder. That way you are sure none of the files you downloaded (my live 99 roster) is messing up your live 2000 game.
Install the game again & come back with the message you're getting then.
Why do I recommend doing it that way?, cause my roster goes directly to the original db. If you uninstall the game and install it again, it will still be up there. You need to delete that folder and install the game again.

I was wondering if you found out away to get the game to run yet?

i have a similar problem. I have played Nba Live 2000 fine for many months on my Dell Inspiron w/ Windows XP and Nvedia. last week i was playing NBA Live 2000 fine with no problems. Then the monitor settings were messed up. So when I clicked on NBA live i get the handle error. So then I tried to update the Nvedia driver and change some settings, then when I try to open NBA Live it just says "NBA Live has encountered a problem and needs to close". An even worse situation. So I would like to talk to anyone who is familar with this dilemma, if not I might just have to buy Nba Live 2004 when it comes out because I am getting withdrawl symtoms already.

I had the same problem for quite a long time. Finally, I got the game to work last week by simply switching over to software mode. The graphics may not be as great as in 3D mode, but the gameplay is just so great.
I'm really looking forward to creating some new patches. WeeeeeeHaaaaa!!!
live 2000 got me again...

Great to see you back, debiler

By the way. . . How do you switch to software mode?

Thanks, Alex.
@djrun:
Somewhere, there is a 3D-setup menu file in your NBA live folder. I would give you the specific name of that file, but I can't do it from my desk at work. When you've located that file, just doble-click and deselect your video card in the followig menu. The game will now have quite poor resolution and no 3D, but at least it runs without errrs(on my system). I got used to it, and it's still fun.
It never was the graphics that made live 2K the best game of the series.

start > EA Sports > NBA Live 2000 > NBA Live 2000 - 3D Installation

I renamed nbalive.icd to .exe when my computer started doing that... and it worked...
Fri Nov 21, 2003 10:33 pm
I hope you're not trying to fool anyone here, buddy.

Would be great if it worked. I guess I'll give it a shot, cause those software rendered graphics are just sooooo crappy...
Wed Apr 14, 2004 2:32 pm
When I tried to rename it to exe, it said it already exists. So do you know where it exists, cause I can't find it?
Wed Apr 14, 2004 6:47 pm
of course it says it already exists, as you already have a nbalive.exe in your directory ...

first rename nbalive.exe to nbalive.bak for instance, then now you can rename nbalive.icd to nbalive.exe ... and everything should be ok
Thu Apr 15, 2004 4:29 am
Where is it? The only thing I could find is nbalive.icd. Where is nbalive.exe located?
Thu Apr 15, 2004 6:45 pm
nbalive.exe shall be in your live 2000 directory, the same as nbalive.icd
Fri Apr 16, 2004 1:39 am
I found it, but now after changing the name. The message says problem with nbaexe.exe and now has to close.

I had this problem today.
I have WinXP and a GeForce FX 5600XT card.
I was LITERALLY playing the game fine earlier, then couldn't get it to run a few hours later. Obviously something changed sometime today...
I updated my video card drivers from the Nvidia website and now it runs just fine. I got the 56.72 update.
*shrugs*
I've always had problems with EA Sports games. They just tend to be frustrating to run sometimes. The only one I never had trouble with was NHL '96, but I haven't played that one in years.
NBA Live 95, 96, 2000, NHL 2001, and NHL 2004 have all given me such trouble.
But now that this one runs again.... It's all good.
Update your drivers if you haven't.

well, it seems the cracked version of nba live 2000 doesn't work under XP, so all I've got to say is : come get a legal version ! You can find one at ebay or similar stores for almost nothing nowadays. Believe in me, you won't be disappointed
Thu May 06, 2004 7:18 pm
For the record I have a legal copy.
