how do I make my created player have a nickname

ok i was reading the players.dbf page for live 2001 and I saw nickname thing. I created my player and saved to roster so i could edit the thing, ok I had a hard time finding my player but than i just searched for his last name and found it. Now, how do I add a nickname to it. I loked at others like cylde the glide drexlar, and where the nickname was so i put mine there for my players than i saved it and i looked at the nba live 2001 player in the game but the nickname place is still blank, can someone help me plz!

Did you re-load the roster after you made the changes? Might sound like a stupid question, but it's something that's easy to forget.

yes i did lots. and i looked at each thing and tried to make him have a headband but it didn't work either...

Not sure what the problem might be then. You're editing the correct fields, so the nicknames you've entered should be displayed in the View Player screen.

andrew, ok i am ready to start doing it again. Ok is there supposed to be a proper way to edit the dbf files? i just open the files with wordpad. are u supposed to open it with something else?

EDIT: Ok i am downladed that dmcommander or whatever it is called, i'll try editing with that....

Also, do you think there is a way to add custom teams though editing dbf files in live 2001, i know there is in 2003 i was reading some of those but does that work also with live 2001?

YES!!!!!!!!! FINALLY!! YAY IT WORKED., that dbf commander thing really works, I not only added my nickname, but i did all the things for how much you would get in simulated play, plus i edited where i was born, that i was drafted from the team, where i was drafted, changed my contract length and alot more! it is great! i'm so happy

It's possible to add custom teams to NBA Live 2001 the same way you can add them to NBA Live 2003, but it causes problems in Franchise Mode, so I don't recommend doing it.

No problem. Glad to hear you got your other problem sorted out - I should have asked what you were using to edit the DBF files, as WordPad isn't the correct application to use (as you found out ).

you know how the db commander thing says unless to buy the full version, it is only 4 30 days. if after the 30 days u uninstall it, and delete all the files, can you download it again and have it fro another 30 days and so on or is it one of those things where it leaves a little thing on your computer so it makes sure you don't download it again?

Except for a few of the advanced features, it's still functional after 30 days. If all you want to do is edit player data, then you can use it as long as you like. But if you want to transfer data between DBF files and take advantage of the other advanced features, those features are disabled after 30 days.
