NLSC Roster Update - The Future

Postby Andrew on Mon May 26, 2003 8:46 pm

Hey all,

With the release of NBA Live 2003, the impending release of NBA Live 2004, and the gripes that have led a lot of users to go back to NBA Live 2000, the NLSC roster updates for NBA Live 2001 are not as popular as they once were. I realise that I have not updated them as frequently as I should have this past season, which no doubt has contributed to their declining popularity. However, the fact remains, there isn't as much demand for them as there was two years ago - or even one year ago.

I know there's a lot of people who still play NBA Live 2001, but I really need to see a show of hands, so to speak. Do you want me to continue updating the rosters for NBA Live 2001?

Pending the interest and the time I have available, I might consider passing the roster update on to someone else to maintain, however I'd like to continue updating this roster in the meantime - provided that there is sufficient interest and demand for it.

Vote in the poll, let me know what you think. If everyone's going to graduate to NBA Live 2003/NBA Live 2004, then there isn't much point updating these older games - sad but true.

Also...

Assuming that I do continue updating the NBA Live 2001 rosters, I'd like to know what kind of improvements can be made to the roster. Since there isn't enough demand for Live 2001 roster patches to warrant a support forum similar to the one I setup for NBA Live 2003, I thought I'd open the floor in this thread (and in the Live 2001 Patching Issues forum in general) to get your feedback on ratings, player appearances, positions, lineups, anything to improve the patch.

There's a good chance I'll only be making occasional roster updates, so I'd like the patch to be to most people's liking, so that most of the minor updates can be done by the user, if they so wish.

Well, give me feedback. :)

Hi Andrew!

Please continue updating your rosters for NBA Live 2001 in the future.
If you don't have enough time to update it during the whole season, just release one roster at the season start.
In that way, anyone can at least start to play with your roster at the season start and continue playing with it the whole game season (NBA Live season) without any players' transactions (which can be done inside the game (if anyone wants the exact transactions)).

Thats just my opinion. Lets look for others'.

Hey Andrew

Like what Mikeze, please continue to update the rosters. And also want you to change some of the ratings. Some of them i didnt but mostly every player rating are ok. Everything else for the roster is ok.

Thankz for the roster!

Not a whole lot of responses thus far guys. If there's no interest, there's not really much point in continuing the roster updates. :?

OK, Andrew. If you decide to stop updating the roster, would you please just post here what ratings did you tweak. Please post the formula also.
Thank you.

I haven't made a decision about the rosters yet, and I probably won't for a while yet. It's going to take some time to determine the interest, since this forum is frequently visited. Perhaps I'll have to open up voting to everyone, whether they have a forum account or not.

If I don't continue the roster update, I'll probably pass it on to someone else to update. But whatever happens, I'll let everyone know. :)

especially there will be new guys like LeBron James in the roster.

Please continue to update NBA live 2001 roster.
(FYI: I bought live 2003, BUT doesn't work on my old PC due to its requirement for advanced graphics card or something . So I left the live 2003 CD at home :< )

Thanks Andrew

As I announced elsewhere, I'm no longer continuing updates for the NBA Live 2001 roster patch. I'm currently in the process of finding someone else to take over the rosters in my stead.

Much appreciated :D

That's correct. The offer is still open for someone to take over the roster patch in my stead.

Yes, creating missing players is all part of it. It also involves keeping up with the latest transactions, updating player ratings and bio data, etc. Easy once you know how, but it can be time consuming.

Sorry, I won't be making any more roster updates for NBA Live 2001. I've offered the patch to anyone who's interested in taking over the responsibility of updating them, but no one has agreed to do so yet.
