Chicago Bulls offense

Postby bullsfan009 on Fri Feb 18, 2005 7:10 am

I'm starting a new season with the Chicago Bulls. What team offense should I use (turnout, flex, high post, inside triange, motion, etc...) to most be like the real Chicago Bulls?

What offense do the real, current Bulls use the most?

(btw- Today's Michael Jordan's Birthday!! :bday: - he's 42, was born on 2/17/63.)

The Scott Skiles Bulls run a good deal of motion & flex . . . and on the rare occassions when Skiles plays Chandler and Cury together, they go high-low, with Chandler at the top and Curry posting in front of the bucket. As I say, that's rare.

They seem to prefer to run in the full court rather than depending on Curry to score the post or Gordon to create his shot off the dribble -- and that's unfortunate, as those two cats will be game to the hilt on the O end soon. Skiles needs to run more sets for the young fellas.

Good, I'm 5-2 on the season, just lost to the Lakers at home :wall:
Kobe was lighting up Gordon, he scored 18 in the first quarter, and had 39 after 3 quarters. He finished with 41...

I'm starting Ben Gordon at the 2, and Hinrich at the 1, even though that's not how the real Bulls are playing, 'cause it's more exciting.

I don't plan on making any trades, but I did update my season with the real NBA's trades.

Why doesn't he play the two together, you think? They're perfect compliments- what Curry does well (scoring, low-post dominator), Chandler doesn't, and what Chandler does well (defense, rebounding), Curry doesn't. :?:

i always double the star player of the other team. makes winning a lot easier. i got a cpu controlled defender then my control player comes a double team. if i allow an opponent star player more than 30+ points i would get very frustrated by that (N)
try my tactics to earn more wins. although i never have a season without a lost but i have one 57-1 record with. 8-)

Doesn't that take the realism out of the game? I mean, I hate losing for sure, but also I don't like to see a 82-0 record, because that would never happen. I want it to be realistic, to struggle with it, get on losing streaks, and then (always :D) come out on top.

yeah you guess it right. but during my early seasons the computer cheats its way to victory. so guess that gives me the thrill to finish the season unbeaten.(it happened in real life but in soccer ARSENAL finished the FA cup without a single lost for more than 70+ games)
at my 8th season when almost all of the Nba players are replaced with generated ones i "dive my season" and barely made it to the playoffs. my plan was to get a high draft pick the next year. i didn't do any pump fakes and i acted the whole game like it was real. to my suprised i have only 6 loses playing that way. maybe i got to good for the computer to handle. (i played with 2005 now. i just have a 4 game losing streak. my longest losing streak in my nba live series career!!!) a) I meant the two "young fellas" (Curry & Gordon) to whom I referred in the preceding message.

b) further, "run more sets" suggets that the Coach (Skiles) should call more set plays rather than allowing his squad to run and create at its own discretion. The Bulls lack of a true offensive system will catch up to them down the stretch and in the playoffs (if they make the postseason), as they lack an established shot-creating sort of player.

bullsfan) Skiles shies from playing Chandler and Curry together because they are both true centers, despite allusions to the contrary. Chandler is simply a face-up center, where Curry is a traditional back-to-the-basket pivot man. They can play high-low together offensively (ala Robinson and Duncan in the late-90s/early-00s), but neither can really defend the contemporary NBA power forward ten feet from the bucket.

Thanks.

Oh, yeah, watching MJ every night was incredible. He was the best player ever, no doubt about it, and I was very fortunate to be able to watch every game of his on TV. I even went to one game of his, but missed the only dunk he had 'cause I was getting a hot dog :x . I just knew it happened because it was like the whole building erupted, and there were some tv monitors next to the hot dog stand that I saw the replay on.

You Americans are really incredible, you come to see MJ playing and you still leave your seat in the middle of the game to get an hotdog  What is half time made for? :P

If I were assisting a game with MJ, even an earthquake wouldn't make me leave my seat :D

bullsfan) that was red and black rule #1 -- Mike's in the house, so don't leave your seat or allow your eyes to drift, for you will surely miss the miraculous.

Hope you enjoyed that hot dog though.

Nothing was like old Chicago Stadium. Mike and Pip used to rock that joint back when I was you guys' ages.

Northbrook . . . isn't that up there near Highland Park, bullsfan? You ever see MJ around town?

mortalsoul3- Northbrook is not too far from Deerfield, Illinois, where the Berto Center is. That's the practice facility of the Bulls.

I've never seen MJ, but my dad went to the Berto Center in 1998 with a videocamera, and talked to guys like Jason Caffey, Phil Jackson, and a couple other Bulls players after their practice was out. MJ darted out a back door into his Ferrari, and zoomed outta there, so my dad only caught a quick glimpse of him.

Me, I went to the Berto Center this summer, and met Eddy Curry in the parking lot. He was very nice, and polite. Jamal Crawford was pulling out in a Jeep, too.

And finally, there is a Baker's Square restaurant nearby the Center that a lot of the players go to for lunch, according to a waitress I talked to. One time I was there, Tyson Chandler was leaving! He was HUGE  - very skinny, but sooo tall. He had some girl with him, she was a midget compared to him lol...

COOLmac- nah, wasn't my girl. Just my own mistake :D
