Retirement

Postby DaveGC on Wed Feb 09, 2005 8:56 am

when u start the franchise ....you start on 1999/2000 season.....
so when i get to 2004/2005 season, my players always retire before i get to play on 2004/2005 season......like jalen rose......
so..i was wondering..is there a way to start your franchise on 2004/2005 season?

Try simming all seasons prior 2004-05. Skip to the playoffs each year, then conduct your offseason drafts and free agents acquisitions as per usual. I'm surprised to hear of Jalen Rose's retirement . . . the most common retirees in Live 2000, in my experience, are Luc Longley, Toni Kukoc, Shawn Kemp, Pat Ewing, Hakeem, and of course the likes of Blue Edwards, Herb Williams & David Wingate. I think Chris Mullin & Rik Smits usually retire prior 04-05 as well.

And all the rookies available via the cpu draft are garbage. You may want to create your own players or add real life players who've joined the league since 2000 before simming in Franchise Mode. Just to supplement the league's talent pool.

Hmmm . . . not quite sure that's possible. You may alter the database files, such that you're seeming to begin play in 2004-05, rather than in 99-00. Yet, I doubt that would alleviate your problem re:player retirements. Further, I suppose that you could download an NBA Live roster accurate up to the beginning of the 04-05 season. Yet, I wonder how that roster would translate/transfer to live 2000 in terms of player ratings --and I wonder if you wouldn't have to go about manually entering your edits either via the game software or the database files?

I defer to the experts . . .

First, are you using my roster? Jalen Rose retiring in 2004/05 can be possible with my roster, but it seems unlikely with the original roster.

Then, it's not possible to edit the starting date.

Indeed, in my roster, I made every player 4 years older than they really are. Otherwise, LeBron would be 14 when you start a Franchise, and older guys like Elden Campbell or Karl Malone wouldn't quickly retire. So the most realistic way to simulate the franchise was to make everyone 4 years older.
