Anyone in the mood for making a 2005 roster patch?!

Postby CeazerBB on Mon Nov 22, 2004 7:53 am

Hey is there still anyone who love this game much enough to make a 2005 roster patch, after mine calculations there is still many people who are playing the 2001 nba live, (I do at least) So If enough people were interested in such a thing, mabye someone (Our man Andrew) would consider to update the rosters  Make replays to convince someone to make a 2005 roster patch.... - Help me out people!

I started on making a one for last year by moving the players around but I needed someone to do the rookies and player updates. I don't know how this one is possible because of the intrduction of the Bobcats.

If someone wants to continue on from the last update I made, feel free. But be warned, my last update was a long time ago so you've still got quite a bit of work ahead of you. ;)

Because I don't have enough time to maintain current roster updates for any Live except the current version. By the time I finished up with NBA Live 2001 updates, it was only getting 100 downloads a month. The NBA Live 2005 update is usually downloaded at least 100 times within the first hour of each release. There is not enough interest for me to cut into my leisure time to update such an old patch - it's just too much work for too few people when I don't have the time. Sorry, but I'm done with NBA Live 2001. I will not be making any more patches for it.

I virtually have last years roster with no rookies and no player updates. They are on my old computer but I could get them for anyone that wants to work off it.

Well done might chuck it on my old computer and see how it runs. Dont worry about the Bobcats Im pretty sure Andrew said its nearly impossible to create custom teams with NBA Live 2001.

just one question. i'm planning on replacing the 50's allstar team with the charlotte bobcats. do i just put the players on that team and edit the teams.dbf? or do i have to make the players 'legends' before putting them on the team?

i have edited my own rosters...

-uses ESPN 2k5 ratings (the shooting ratings i have changed a bit, because 2k5 works on a different scale)
-rosters up to date, including mourning in the FA pool and mccarty on the suns
-a few players that have seen limited nba time (eg. yuta tabuse)
-a few details to be worked out (eg. years played, nicknames, etc.)
-players that have retired/no longer playing are in the FA pool with all ratings set to 50. i'll try and figure out a way to delete them.

problem is, i don't know how to make it into a patch.... :?

Put retired players in the legends pool (with any DBF editor), it's cleaner than putting all their ratings at 50.

and your roster's already a patch. You just have to zip the folder and put it on the web (with a readme to explain how where to unzip it). Of course you can also compile it with an installer like Andrew does, but it's more of a detail :)

i will send it to you guys to put on the web when i've received permission from the guy that did the ratings. those ratings are not entirely my own.

I downloaded the new version of your roster and here are some complains:
1) some rating are very wrong (DRebound are too high for every player!! also you have overdone yourself with scoring ratings)
2) why are there so many players who don't play any more (Jordan, Starks and so on) in the free agents pool with MINIMUM points required????? CPU team will sign them on the first day of the francise!!

I hoped the update would be better but it's not ( B. Miller grabs 10 rebound in 2min, C.Anthony shooting 3pt way too good even on the superstar level)

looking forward to Jwill2 roster cuz currently there are no up to date rosters for this game.

Alexboom has been making good & accurate rosters for Live 2000, I hope someone will do the same for 2001

sorry about the ratings... i haven't updated everything but the rosters. i just moved the players around from Andrew's roster (which was like 2 years ago). anyways, what i do for better gameplay using the roster is playing it in all-star level and turning on the keep scores close function. anyways, if anyone can do a better roster, feel free to start with mine. edit it all you want. that's the point of me releasing it anyway. and sorry to dissapoint you, sonic_313. i'll try to do a better one next time

no harm done, sonic_313. i'll take into consideration those bugs you mentioned on my next release. and i finally figured out how to make the allstar teams wear a single uniform. i'll release it next week, because it's about 2.5 megabytes big (including the jerseys for the all star teams). thanks for the comments.

if you'd like a preview of my ratings, go to....
http://db.gamefaqs.com/console/ps2/file ... rating.txt

the midrange jumper and 3pointers have been modified to better suit the offensive play featured in nba live 2001.

i still have not yet received permission to use them.
