Question on the players on the main menu

do you guys know how to change the players that are displayed on the main menus.... you know the ones that fades in and out

they dont use custom cyberfaces, dont use custom gear, and are on the wrong team. it would be nice if we could change the players that are displayed to more modern, updated ones

it should be a dbf hiding somewhere controlling it...... but i had tried to find it with no luck, which gets me to think if its hard coded into the game.... but it doesnt seem too likely

so...anyone?

i dont see how the salary would have something to do with it.

i think you can update the looks of the players on the menu by importing art files into the .viv file itself. instead of using the update folder. on changing the players that appear on the menu, i don't know how either.

yea i agree with ya that importing into the vivs themselves would update their looks but...

i never tried, but i'm pretty convinced that the game picks the player in the players.dbf that are on the "origdb" folder, in the Live 2000 main folder.

i had always replaced the player.dbf from origdb folder with your roster update + cyberface patches....

but no difference.... it still uses the default faces

and i wanna change WHO is displayed you know...
i dont wanna see bryant reeves

errr there's also a players.dbf in "dbdata" folder, maybe this one is correct ?

because it is the same file as in the "default" save folder... your roster! with king james...yao ming etc...

The default face thing is probably due to the same problem that crashes the game on the celebration screen.

The game just searches the face inside the viv file in art\ingame folder.
If you didn't update the viv file, the new face won't show.

Who the game picks is probably a random choice among the best players of each team.
My CPU is very old so I disabled the fading effect on the menu to save time. This way when I run the game the player that first appears every time is MJ wearing 90's jersey (maybe because he is the best player in the original database). When I end a season the player on the menu changes to the last one that appeared celebrating in the screen. (If you cut the celebration when your PF is on the screen, he'll be the menu player).

and yes, everytime my game starts its jordan in the 90s all stars jersey
but in my origdb player.dbf... BRYANT REEVES is in the legends pool.... NOT in "VANCOUVER" grizzlies anymore, but he still appears on the menu, wearing a MEMPHIS grizzlies jersey

i havnt completed a season yet so i have no clue on whether it will change after a season.
